Youth Dudes

My church has asked me to look into finding a bilingual (English/Spanish) speaker for our big student weekend (last year we had 750 kids for 3 days). I can come up with plenty of people who would play well to adults but I am clueless about guys who would connect with students. They will speak in English but if we could work in Latino cultural references it would play to our bilingual crowd (our Spanish congregation has exploded the past couple of years).

Budget is not a problem but finding the right person is.

Any suggestions?

Now that I've got that out of the way, feel free to have a serious discussion.

Dave Park would be awesome but I don't know if he's bilingual or not. I can definitely ask.

Our middle school pastor's wife spent time in a Spanish speaking country. He's not a big name but he's really good and could possibly fit the criteria.

Greg Pinkner is ridiculously good but, like Dave Park, I don't know if he's bilingual.

Other than that, I have no clue.

Thanks for the names. We've had guys like Francis Chan in the past. It is tough to find guys who click with students these days.

The Latino aspect is fairly new since our church has had such explosive growth ... Spanish services started less than 3 years ago with 50 and they are running around 1000 now with a ton of middle & high school kids who primarily speak English at church but Spanish at home.

I am trying to help them book my old friends from Austin who have a group called Salvador for the music. We just had Jimmy Needham for this year's event and we've had Hawk Nelson and others in recent years.
