Acquire the Fire

I was looking to taking my youth group to Acquire the Fire in Greensboro in March but I don't really know a lot about it. Has anyone ever gone? If there is some liberal theology being taught I don't want to go, but from what I can understand it's basically a gospel presentation with some breakout sessions. What are some of your thoughts?

There were 3-4 churches at home that used to go to this every year. That's all I know.

Big concert atmosphere, nothing groundbreaking in terms of content. Pretty standard youth convention stuff to me when I was a teenager, coming from a "First Christian Church", non-denominational background.

Its primarily an Assemblies of God deal but they attract kids from most evangelical denominations. I wouldn't hesitate bringing a busload from my Baptist church to one the events.

Ok thanks! That helps alot. I dug around some more and found some good feedback. When I was a teenager our youth pastor took us to something similar and the speaker got up and talked about the church being more open to gay ministers and he had us get up in the middle of the crowd and leave (which he should have!) but I didn't want to put myself in that situation with me being a new first-time youth minister.

I dont' know if they still have Go Tell camps are not, but those are in your area in North Georgia or they used to be at LU as well.
Rick Gage does an excellent job with this ministry. I believe.

Liberty hosts one of his camps each year. It's typically the biggest one of the summer for LU.

Acquire the Fire is a great event, I used to go all the time. Its great for what it is, however, they primarily rely on emotional responses. You will see alot of your youth making life changing decisions at the end of it, but they are purely emotional, which kind of stinks. But hopefully you can use that as a launch pad to helping them make well thought out reasons for their decision in the long run.
However, if I was closer to Washington, D.C. or Dallas, TX where I am, in St. Louis, say like where you are, in Raleigh, I would make plans to instead go to a planet wisdom conference. Same basic Idea, but they use the bible a whole lot more than emotion. ATF is great, but if you have the choice definitely go with Planet wisdom.
Here is a great review of the two conferences from a Teenagers viewpoint after going to both, its pretty good,

And on the subject of Teen conferences, has anyone heard of the Reach Conference in PA? All i know about it is Phil Wickham will be doing worship. Im tempted on going just on that alone, but id like more info
