Prayer Request from Houston

Just found out that I am among a host of folks who are being laid off at my church as part of the economic crisis. Mass layoffs are never fun and this is disappointing news.
I've been through layoffs before and I have learned to trust God more through these times.
I'm asking you to pray for me to be a good leader for my family and for God to provide me with a place where I can serve him next.

Are you looking at staying in the area? What position did you hold in the church?

Sly, this was in my time with the Lord today, "But the noble man makes noble plans, and by noble deeds he stands." (Isaiah 32:8 NIV) I'm praying this as a blessing over you!

Thanks, dcbailey.
It would be our preference to stay in the Houston area. But we don't want to limit God's will.
I serve as Director of Communications until the end of the month.

Man I am sorry to hear about your situation my friend. You and I have both experienced this a few times I guess. I was a contractor for the past 7 years as you know as a result of being laid off at AT&T back in 2002. I am full time now since May at my job but there is talk of mass layoffs. I will be praying for you and your family.

I really appreciate the prayers, guys. One way or the other, we will be making major adjustments at the Sly household.
Sadly it was job commitments that kept me from coming to Homecoming this weekend. Oh well. Perhaps that won't be a hindrance in the years to come.

Snow sweeping through Canton now. Hopefully, it's a little more Southern Ohio! You Texans can't handle the cold.
