A Million Churches, Where to Go?

Hey I'm a junior at Liberty and I have been trying to find a good church to go to (there have been a few solid churches that I have gone to that are HUGE, and hard to be involved). Really what I am looking for is a church that is service-minded. I am involved with a government-housing neighborhood in the city (through CampusServe), and would love to find a church that is looking to get involved in reaching out to that community. There are so many churches around here that I can't visit most of them. I realize this isn't the ideal place for an inquiry like this but if anyone has any ideas for me I would appreciate it. Thanks

I don't know where your gov't housing is, but you could try Hyland Heights on 29 S.

Brentwood is service oriented. In fact, its in their mission statement.

Word.
Living Word. Call the church, talk to Jason Suitt and ask him how you could get involved. Word.

I would highly recommend Brentwood. I listen to Pastor Dupin's podcast alot down here when I jog and enjoy it alot. The only bad thing about Brentwood is there is a lot of distractions in there

I attended Rivermont Presbyterian and it was one of the highlights of my time at LU.

My church is all about service, including Habitat for Humanity. Rivermont Ave. Baptist Church is an historic downtown (inner-city) church that is mostly white in a minority neighborhood. And we partner with many of African-American churches in the neighborhood.
We're on the corner of Rivermont & Bedford Ave., just about a half mile from the Texas Inn, heading toward Randolph College.

I got to TRBC but if large churches arent your thing Id take a look at Brentwood or Blue Ridge Community Church. Heritage Baptist is another one worth looking at. There is a church plant out in Amherst and one in Bedford as well (flamerbob can tell you more about the one in Amherst)
