Prayer For Sunday

I didn't want to hijack Medic's career thread, but I've got a kind of important deal coming up on Sunday.

I've been talking to the pastor search committee for a church in West Virginia for about a month and a half. They drove an hour and a half to buy me and my family breakfast at Bob Evans last weekend, and Sunday morning they're coming to hear me preach. I've been serving as pulpit supply at a few small churches as they needed me for a while, but I haven't spoken on Sunday morning at my home church in a long time.

Long story short, I may be moving to West Virginia in the near future, depending on what they think of the message on Sunday. I'd appreciate the prayers.

You can count on it.

But will this mean you'll have to change the name of your blog?

:D

Not the first time I've pondered the answer to that question. And "View From the Pastor's Study" is already taken :(

Maybe "View OF The Pew"

Just a quick update -- I got a phone call this evening from the search committee. I'm preaching there on the 6th of August, and they'll be voting on me the next Sunday.

Had a great service on Sunday. The people there really know how to make you feel at home.

They vote after the morning service on Sunday, so I'll know by about 2PM.

They've called me -- I'm now the pastor of Fairlawn Baptist Church.

AND -- the West Virginia Convention of Soutehrn Baptists has a deal going with LU -- pastors and associate pastors get free tuition throu the DLP at Liberty. So it looks like I'll be getting my M.Div from LTS. I love Southern, and the professors there, but I can't beat free.

That's fantastic news! And the free tuition makes it all the sweeter. Congratulations!

Glad to hear phoenix.

I took advantage of that deal as well here in VA. In addition, if a Senior Pastor leads his congregation to become part of the Liberty Baptist Fellowship... the same sort of deal can happen. I know of some independant churches who have done this and gotten the same deal.

Congrats again phoenix. If you need a sounding board, feel free to touch base.
