Our friend Jeff 'Fumblerooskies' Taylor has Passed Away

Jeff Taylor, aka Fumblerooskies, was throwing batting practice to his son today at Lynchburg College and somehow a ball came back and hit him in either the throat or head and was not breathing. When I got to the field, which was no more than a minute or two after it happened, the Lynchburg College EMS and security had already responded and ambulances were on the way over. He was just taken over to the hospital. I don't know about his condition at the moment.

I never, ever want to be the bearer of awful news, but Jeff passed away shortly after the incident. Just got off the phone with one of his best friends who received a call from Jeff's wife. Pray for their family. It was his son who hit the ball that struck him in the throat. R.I.P.

I read the first note as I left work, then jumped on when I got home to f/up. This is terrible. Praying for the family.

Wow...this one shocked me.

I enjoyed the time I had to know Jeff. He will be sorely missed. Rest in peace, 'rooskies.

I cannot express how awful this is. Jeff was a fantastic individual. He went out of his way to show me kindness on numerous occasions. I just got an email from him yesterday that I hadn't responded to yet. I really don't have any more words right now. I'm shocked and I feel awful.

My prayers are with his family.

Man is this the saddest thing ever here on FF or what? I've almost left FF 2 or 3 times , and Jeff always convinced me to stay. When My dad died, he was 100% sympathetic and sent me all kinds of PMs.
What a great guy. I had the privilege of meeting him a time or 2 and he was great. He was always PMing me about something cool or funny. May the Lord shine on his family. I am deeply sad.

This news hit me like cannonball to the gut. What a horrendous tragedy under absolutely awful circumstances. We are working on ways here at FlameFans to remember one of our own.

My heart goes out to his family. This has to be unbearably awful for his son who is likely bearing a mountain of guilt on his shoulders for something he couldn't possibly have controlled. And to his wife, there is no words that can be spoken right now to ease her pain. I encourage everyone on here to stop what you are doing for a few moments to pray hard for this family. Fumbles is certainly in a much better place and I am sure he would want us to be focusing on his loved ones feeling so much grief.

Jeff came by my office the other day just to say hi. I was kind of in the middle of something and I might have rushed him out. I don't remember anymore what I was doing but I'm pretty sure that it wasn't all that important. I'm sorry about that, Jeff.

Just got the call....wow is all I can say, Jeff would stop by the shop at least a few times a week and just talk ball for a long time...this is unreal....this is going to be really really tough for his son to over come, Jeff loved his son so much and was so impressed by his abilities. Almost just in awe of him....I will say this, he went on a baseball field which is almost fitting...just rather it have been 40 years from now. Dang I'm sad

I loved Jeff like a brother. I'll miss you, man. You were so close to being Dr. Taylor. I'm a better person for having known you.

Wow. Horrible news... I will definitely be praying for his family. His son in particular needs a lot of prayer. I can't imagine the guilt he has...
