The Air Force Begins

As most of you guys know I signed up for the Air Force several months ago. This coming Monday is the day that the whole journey begins. I will be leaving and staying the night in Richmond and then on Tuesday I will be flying out to San Antonio for basic training.

Basic training will last 8.5 weeks and then after that I go to a tech school in Mississippi that will last 20 weeks where I will be learning my job. My job will be Communications-Computer Systems Control, which I am really excited about.

The real prayer request in all of this is for my wife who will be living here in Lynchburg and working for the 6 months I am gone. She is a strong one and I know she will be fine, but she will always be in the back of my mind, especially since I won't be here to help her and such. She is planning on coming to my graduation the end of May and visiting me for a long weekend in August in Mississippi. Her parents are also coming back from Indonesia where they are missionaries for furlough in July, so she will be able to see them some which will all help.

Anyways, your prayers through this whole process will be much appreciated. As soon as I am able to get to a computer I am sure I will update you on my progress...thanks guys.

so this has turned into the unofficial flamefans update for anything air force...which i guess is ok

I just found out this past week I will be stationed in Tampa, Florida at MacDill AFB...I am really excited about this because I have wanted to get back to Florida. It is still the beginning stages, but I should know more as the weeks pass

school is going well, this past week was a ton of information and I am trying to get it all straight inside of my head...so prayer in that area would be appreciated...school is very fast paced here and much different than anything I ever experienced in college...I don't know if its harder, but its much, much different....

I also now have an internet connection in my room, so I might be around here more causing trouble...we shall see

thanks again for the support...who knows what the next 6 years will bring with all the things going on in the world that I am sure the Air Force will be a big part of...

Postman you are in my home town. Good old MacDill AFB. Btw the way there is a great rib place on Gandy Blvd, called Kojak. It is right before Gandy hits Bayshore.
Will you be still in town this Sept? I will be down there and will buy you lunch at Kojak if you are interested.

Good luck with your schooling.

I won't be down there til the middle of October...but any other good food places you want to tell me about would be great!

Its been 6 years since I have lived in Florida full time...so I am very excited about this...no more state taxes! haha

well the end of the road is near for the training aspect..I take my last test this coming Monday and its seems to be shaping into one of the toughest yet. I have a 3 day weekend to prepare for it, so feel pretty confident. I leave Monday afternoon and will be back in Lynchburg sometime on Tuesday. I am so excited to get some time off. It is much needed.

If you don't mind, please keep me in your prayers this weekend as I study. I am more nervous about this test then any test I have ever taken. I just want to get done and on with the future and finally live with my wife again who has been working back in Lynchburg the whole time I have been gone...

So yeah...prayers would be appreciated..Plus I NEED to make it to the JMU game next Saturday. haha

I am in Tampa at the public library using their computer. After this I am heading to Kojak the rib place I told you near MacDill AFB. Leaving Sunday to head back to NC.

Enjoy your time in Tampa and maybe we can meet at Kojak next Sept. Have a safe trip down.

I officially passed my test today! I am now a permanent party member of the US Air Force..I will head to Lynchburg for a week and a half...I in-process in Tampa Oct 2.

Thanks for the prayers and support over the last 6 months. I am so excited about finally being able to start my actual job in the Air Force, and even better I finally get to live with my wife! 6 months away has been tough, but I think ultimately brought us closer, which is odd I guess....Anyways, enough of that...

I will be in the Bill Saturday night....BEAT JMU!!!!
