Hey guys I just wanted to say that after 7 years Im finally down to my last two classes that I need to graduate. I'll be taking them next semester and doing an internship in the summer (working on that right now) but I will be walking across the stage May 9. Needless to say Im thrilled and this has been a long journey for me and maney of you have been supportive of me and have prayed me through some very tough times. I know I can say some pretty dumb stuff from time to time but at the end of the day, I am thankful for being a part of this community and will continue even beyond May and even after I leave Lynchburg (whenever the Lord calls me to)

Congragulations on graduating. Does it seem like the years at LU went by fast?
Good luck in your job search and let God lead, everything will be fine

really it didnt feel like it flew by until we got out of the normal 4 year window. The last couple years have been such a whirlwind of emotions from the situation with my sister to my grandmother's death to finding out I had one more year to do but its been an amazing ride the whole way not gonna lie

BJ, if you don't go here, you should consider Regent, especially since it's Christian and so close to home for you.

Regent is outrageously expensive and unless you're going for a law degree, probably isn't worth it. If you're looking to stay nearby, look in to W&M.

Congratulations BJ. My advice: Unless you have a pile of cash sitting around AND are unable to find a job (not necessarily a job in your field), hold off on grad school. It is fine to do your research for grad schools, but you need to have a specific purpose to go. If you have to borrow the money, you are financially putting yourself in a position of long term debt that will not necessarily be beneficial to you. After you have some real world work and life experience, you may find that you want to pursue a completely different path. Debt free is the best way to live (even without a degree).

and if you run out of ideas, the Marine Corps is always looking for a few good men.

I was sitting in Main Street worshipping God and soem guy asked me if I considered making a CD (he heard me singing along). I honestly never saw myself as really a singer or someone who could go in the music field

HMO, I don't think the Marine Corps accepts recruits on crutches any more. :stretcher
BJ would have better luck going into the music industry.

As one of my LBC professor said in class one time, " I have fought a good fight, but this course has about finished me." :D
Way to go, keep up the good work, the finish line is just ahead. Enjoy your last semester and God Bless.

BJ: Did you hear? I finally graduated.
HMO: Yeah, and just a shade under a decade, too. All right.
BJ: You know a lot of people go to college for seven years.
HMO: I know. They're called doctors.

It may have taken him awhile to graduate, but if I had a company I would want a worker who overcome obstacles to reach his or her goals, in his case, graduation.

I dunno if Id want to audition for American Idol (unless FF wants to get a collection together for me to go to auditions in 2010).

Anyway my grades came back and I passed everything and all I have to do now is take care of business this semester and I will be walking across the stage in just over 130 days

This old hag needs prayer...like right away

I got an email from the school saying that they are suspending my financial aid because they say I didnt complete my degree within 180 credit hours. I am two classes plus my internship away from completing my degree and walking across that stage and I cant stop now.

Ive come too far and given up way too much to not get to the finish line after running for so long

Well I just got off the phone with SAO and they really cant do anything for me at this point because of the number of credit hours Ive attempted and the fact that the 150% thing is a federal requirement and they cant really overturn that. About the only thing that can be done is to contact Jerry Jr and see if he can step in on my behalf. I can probably drop a couple classes and lower the total cost because if I just took two classes (COMS 488 and COMS 334 (my independent study class) and maybe one elective class one of my loans could cover that and then I could see if Jerry Jr could help me with room and board or something. The thing that works in my favor is I did finish my financial check in well before the deadline so I have my room and everything confirmed its just paying for everything that is the big issue right now.

I got word that a few folks are writing to the Chancellor on my behalf (which makes me tear up a bit frankly) so we will see how that goes.
