A Sea Of Red

Nothing major...but he is one very angry 20 year old right now. Our dog...HIS dog...a little 13 lb dachshund was viciously attacked today by 2 neighboring dalmatians that got loose. Slider has about a dozen puncture wounds and is bruised up pretty bad...but will be OK. I just pray my son will not do anything stupid as he gets a little high strung. It was a blessing he was not home to witness it as the results would have been unfortunate for the other dogs.

Also...pray for me to have some peace...as I called animal control and the two dogs were hauled off for quarantine and I feel a bit bad for doing that. The warden said I should not feel guilty...as it well could have been a child they attacked. My wife is shook up as she heard the noise and saw it happening. Thanks, friends.

I didn't know Dalmatians were aggressive. I always assumed they were like labs.

That's scary. You did the right thing. Hopefully the dog owner steps up and pays the vet bills.

A lot of HOA's, campgrounds, and things like that will not allow Dalmatians because of how aggressive and mean they were.

The game warden called us and told us the next step would be circuit court...as they charged the owner b/c of the attack...and we are to bring our bills. My wife works for a law firm in town so I am sure at least the vet bills will get paid...one way or the other.

My son is doing a little better, too...once he found out that Slider got a good lick or two in and one of the dogs needed medical attention from a gouge under the eye. Yeah...it sounds mean...but I am in that type of mood.

I actually watched a photo slide show at nbc4.com the other day that had the top 10 most aggressive dogs and Dachshund was #1. I'd show it to you but they reformatted their website like yesterday and it's gone. Chihuahua was 2.

Dachshunds are VERY territorial and show aggression. I am sure they are high on the list also due to the breed's popularity.

(BTW...meant to post this in the chapel but was still shaking a bit, myself).

As a dog owner myself, I'm praying for your situation, Fumble: for you, your son, and your little dog.

I feel you pain and anger over your dog being attacked. My sister's Pom was attacked by a bull dog 6 yrs ago, we thought he was dead, and she saw he was barely breathing. Long story short, he had to have hip surgery and his right front leg amputated, today he is 15 yrs old and still getting around.
Prayers for your dog and family and tell your son he is blessed his dog is alive and well.

praying for slider!!!! i understand how close pets can be to any family! i have a dalmatian and know of many and they are not agressive in nature. the owners of those made them aggressive. you can make a poodle that way if you teach them. i have to defned the breed though these were clearly bad

Slider is doing better today...has made it outside a couple times over yesterday and today to take care of business...but you can tell he is rather skittish and looking around when he IS outside. Mostly, he is just resting comfortably in his bed.

i had a mini-dach and he was very territorial too! they are such good dogs though!
