I don't know what is next but in the mean time I will keep doing what I am doing...I have been applying for jobs all around this city...not much of it in radio...but maybe God wants me elsewhere...who knows....
That last line was me 5 months ago...Making more $$$ now and have great benefits, it's funny sometimes what we think is best for us and then a totally different door opens that we didn't see coming... Just hang in there and keep sending stuff out if radio is really the field you want to stay in...

Just an update I guess on this...not much of one...but throughout the summer I have been working 2 part time jobs and the combined income from both of these jobs got us through and made paying the bills much easier...but one of the jobs will be ending on Saturday since it is a student position and since I am no longer a student...well, you get it...I still have the other job but one of the contracts is ending at the end of the month which means less money...

with that said I have been, and still am looking for a job...anywhere and everywhere I can think of with little to no luck...it is getting very frustrating and not exactly easy on my wife. I am trying to be strong for her, but to be honest I have no idea what is going to happen or what the future holds and its hard to keep trusting God...my faith is be tested and I am trying my best to trust Him...

anyways, if you think of it just say a quick prayer for me and this situation and that I keep an open mind and willingness to do whatever it is God opens up for me...

thanks guys

Praying for you that God will direct you to the next job. The part about trusting him maybe getting harder. A little word of wisdom, that came with experience. When you get down think of this and it may help with your faith. Always trust in God, there are no surpries to him, but even more think of this. Who else are you going to trust? The US govt, Obama, etc.

I remember getting laid off last fall and walking to my car thinking what am I going to do. Then the Holy Spirit said to me , trust in God. And I thought to myself, good advice, who else can I trust. The answere no one. I am so thankful I am saved.

Don't be afraid to move, I was a little at first and yes I miss the burg, but I couldn't be in a better situation... I think there are several on this board who have moved and seem very, very happy... I hear Texas is a pretty cool place to work and live....

Its soemthing Im gonna have to face here in the next year or three as well. I love Lynchburg, but if I want to get closer to my lifelong dream, its gonna require heading to a new place...and that can be especially challenging Im sure when you have a wife to think about as well.

trust me...the faster I get out of the burg, the better as far as I am concerned...Texas would be fine with me...and my wife doesn't mind the idea of it either...

unlike you the only connection I have in Lynchburg is Liberty and I would miss the sports and supporting my school...but the town...well...I am over it...but yeah...I am pretty much looking everywhere...

but tips and advice are always welcomed...

Have you looked into substitute teaching? Local schools are always looking for substitutes, and I don't think you have to be a certified teacher, but I may be wrong.

I dreaded moving...especially to a smaller place than Lynchburg and it's working out. I can't say I don't miss the 'Burg and LU, though. Most people can't stand it and are ready to get out the second they graduate but I wouldn't mind moving back some day.

An answer of prayer...not exactly how I imagined...and not even permanent...but a friend of mine just called me about helping him work on some houses that his fiance's mom owns in town. It would be 10 bucks and hour and pretty much working whenever I can. Which is very awesome. Its not permanent, but something to hold me over, along with my other part time job, until I get something more stable...

thanks guys for the prayers..today has been a bit stressful and this has come at exactly the right time...funny how God works...

Most places, all they require is that you have a college degree. Subs are hard to find, so they're not too picky (though you do have to pass a background check). And the money's not wonderful, but for what you do it isn't bad.

So I just got some potentially good news tonight. Everything is pretty preliminary at this point and nothing is a sure thing. I can't go into details, but basically it is something that would start as a temporary thing, I would be working with a pretty big music tour with the company that is putting it on. They are opening up a new office in Nashville and very well could need a few people for this office, so working this tour would help get me in there...as well as getting me some other connections within the music industry which would be amazing...

like i said it is app preliminary and nothing is for sure..and once a decision is made I will shed some more light on what it is...

but prayers would be appreciated!

Thanks guys

Haven't been on here to do much of an update, but the potential opportunity I talked about back in August fell through

with that said through much prayer I have decided to join the Air Force. Many people wonder why I would do that with a college degree, but through nearly a year of searching for a job, any job really, I have decided I need to get training elsewhere. The Air Force would be a job I could be proud of and I would learn something new. They will also assist in paying back some of my college loans which will be nice. I do not have a ship out date for basic training, but I will know that within a week or 2.

Both my wife and I are at complete peace about this and finally feel as if we have some direction. Which is nice.

Thanks for the prayers. I will keep you all posted

So you are going in the enlisted side instead of the "O" side?

Thanks for the update and the decision to serve our country. The military needs a light more than just about anywhere else in society.

I had a COMS classmate of mine just Facebook me from Afghanistan yesterday and another of my LU buddies is in Tblisi.

enlisted for now...my college GPA was not high enough to get into the OTS. To be competitive you have to have a 3.8 GPA. Mine was more like 2.8. I have plans, if I enjoy it, to try to get into the Officer program later on. I will start as an E-3 because of my college degree.

Good luck...the Air Force is a fantastic organization and I'm sure you will be able to put your degree in to use somehow while serving.

Keep us updated!

after waiting a couple of months I finally got my ship out date and job...I will be leaving March 24th and my job will be Communications: computer system control

the job is a lot of different things, doing everything from fixing simple computer problems, fixing computers, to encrypting electronic files that are classified...

the last part is the coolest part to me...

anyways, there are a lot of good jobs that line right up with this job in the civilian world, which is great...

I am excited about it, should be fun....will need to get a better job to last me until March, so hopefully something works out with that
