agreeing to disagree, you're not getting it either...sure you COULD go around saying people are making fun of others worshiping God...but we know what the comments were really about

Even if you're a member there or something that's cool! It's really not a big deal, I'll prob be seeing you there in a few weeks...I wasnt making fun of them, if I was then I doubt I'd ever even want to attend

Oh so a church building has some sort of humor free force field. I'll alert Mark Lowery immediately. I don't know that it'll change his act though.

Now you're just being deliberately obtuse.

Why is this funny? I guess I just don't get it. People have different beliefs. I see no point in making fun of them in their mode of worship. If a cowboy/redneck church is what it ministering to them then so be it. Sure, after church, or if I saw a picture of that guy at Walmart, I'd make fun of what he was wearing. However, because of the setting of that picture, I'm not making any joke whatsoever.

If a Pentecostal church is what someone gravitates to, then so be it. If people choose to hold Baptist beliefs, ok. I just don't see the point in making fun of people who hold those beliefs or making fun of them practicing those beliefs.

It's one thing to joke about Pentecostals running the pews when speaking in general conversation. I do that all the time. However, I don't make fun of it when someone actually does something similar. It's one thing to use hyperbole in a neutral setting. It's a completely different thing to make fun of someone in the act of something.

Our faith can be and should be sincere and we should be devout to Christ. But remember, Jesus really didn't like religion and dogma. I believe He also had a sense of humor, a sweaty brow, a musty smell and dirty hands. Above all else, He wants us to love each other!

The funniest part to me about that album cover is that I have actually seen Mike Crain "in action" as it were and in person. He's an a-hole.

(You will note that I only disparaged the man personally and not his beliefs.)

That's my entire point. I made fun of the picture. I never said anything about their beliefs one way or the other.

(Although if I did I bet it would cause more arguments. But I'm sure everybody gets enough of that during their 4+ years at LU.)

I still dont quite understand how they are worshiping in that picture...healing someone I can buy...but worshiping? no...but they are in a place of worship not sure if that's where you were going with that picture.

Actually, that's also my entire point. By making fun of a picture of them in the act of worshipping, you were making fun of their beliefs. If you'd made fun of a shot of them playing softball in the parking lot I'd be right next to you talking about the spaghetti arm on the 2nd baseman.

I'm making fun of Mike Crains belief that he did that without any assistance...and I'm also making for of his belief that God cares about how many bricks he can break

Here's the crux. Pentecostals, full-Gospel people, charismatics of varying stripes, etc., view healing as worship since it is God doing the healing. In fact, many many Christians -- not just Pentecostals -- believe that just about anything they do in the name of God or in the service of His kingdom as worship. For the record, I think what you see in that picture is not healing at all but what's known as "laying on of hands" -- also worship, btw.

And that's the crux right there. It's a ridiculous statement.

Jon Kitna glorifies God in everything he does. So for him playing football certainly is a form of worship. After all, we're to be in constant worship.

You can't if RTF is correct. And obviously we're taking things to extremes to the point of absurdity by assuming Kittens is in worship in these situations but I can't know his heart just like I don't know the heart of the folks in the Ramp Church photo.

I can't believe you actually said this and meant it. How is that possible? Are you that ignorant of what people other than Thomas Road Baptist Church do? I'm asking that seriously. I don't see how someone who has been in church their entire life and graduated from a Christian university doesn't understand how the laying of hands is worship. It's completely Biblical and requires more faith than a lot of people are willing to have. Worshiping isn't just telling God how great He is.

WOW , What a thread. Different to see RTF be the offended and not the Offender.

I don't get how it's okay to make fun of someone in passing but yet, if they are actually engaging in the act, it's not okay?

That's like joking about a cheeseburger making you fat, then getting offended when someone actually tells you that you're going to get fat.
