I drove down from PA yesterday and am currently in the alumni lounge. From what I understand they will not open the church doors, including Main Street, until 11 AM on Tues. They are worried about the crush of people so they will hold the doors shut, then moderate an orderly entrance. Got lots of pictures from a friend of mine of the horse drawn carriage while it transported the casket from Demoss to the church. Very impressive. Also got lots of photos from well wishes posted on the signage of local businesses located all over Lynchburg. After hearing all the negative stuff from the main stream press during the past several days, those signs from mom and pop shops were uplifting. I'll upload the photos when I can but that might not be for several days.
For our Texas residents, there was a reporter from the San Antonio Free Express(?) fishwrap who claimed to be a messianic Jew. He flew up to find the truth about what Jerry was all about. He was interviewing Dwayne Carson when I saw him. Sounds like he might have a good article.
They are creating a garden for the burial place beside the row of shrubs at the end of the Mansion's yard toward the baseball field. They are putting a black iron fence and more plants in this afternoon.
Regarding the last post, just as I drove away from the church a couple minutes ago there was a rush of black Surburbans and Town Cars with Washingotn DC license plates driving up to the church. Looked like secret service type people. I was driving away so I didn't get to see who they were bringing.
I had a chance meeting with Coach McKay today. Don't know what you can tell from a one minute conversation but this guy was very impressive and incredibly humble. He and Rocco have leadership written all over them.
