I always hesitate to post prayer requests on a public forum...I'm not sure why, but I do...but this is a big one...

As a lot of you know I am getting married this summer. My fiance's parents are missionaries in Indonesia and are over there as I type this. We got engaged when they were home on furlough and once their home church found out about the engagement they jumped at the chance to pay for her parents and the rest of the family (3 kids) to fly back home about a month and a half before the wedding. Well, since that time her parents have reserved tickets but have not heard from the church about the money. They have e-mailed them several times without a response. I have said I would call and talk to them, but they insist that they want to handle it and do not want to come off as begging for money. I may not agree with that, but that is how they wish to do this....

Anyways, my fiance is stressing out about this more and more as July gets closer and I am doing my best to encourage her and be the strong one in all of this....but prayer is indeed needed...this is not a post asking for money at all because that is not what I want. I just want the church to fulfill their commitment....or at the very least e-mail them back with information.

So if you guys could just pray for this whole situation to be resolved in a timely manner so that we can move on from this....it would be much appreciated

haha...true...to me its not even the money aspect...even though it is a factor...its more the simple fact that they said they would and now there has been no communication whatsoever...I have met many of these people and they always came off as good reliable kinds of people...so I just don't understand the lack of communication...if we just simply knew SOMETHING...it would be nice

oh well...I guess I am learning once again to trust God and be patient...something I have never been very good at...

I got some very good news about this situation tonight. Here is the e-mail that my fiance got from her mom in her e-mail tonight:

Hello. Hope you’re doing well. God bless you for what you’re doing to further God’s kingdom.



Pastor Mike has asked me to email you with some great news! The decision was made at the last Deacon’s Meeting to take care of your airfare for Rachel’s wedding. Don’t worry about the details, it will be taken care of.

I do need to know where to send the money to purchase your tickets. If you could please let me know, I will relay the information to Pastor Mike so we can take care of things on our end.

Is it just me or does nearly every church take forever to write checks?

It's funny... churches that have quick systems to handle finances (First Family in Kansas) are ridiculed for having as little red-tape as possible.... then other churches are beat up for taking a long time to get checks cut. The inability for the ministry to move quickly is the reason many churches keep their procedures to just a few people. These cases come up so often in the church setting. Not only this, but nearly every ministry has times when they need funds quickly... but churches that have deacon committees typically only meet once a month, some churches also need approval from a finance committee and/or a stewardship committee... it's crazy... I'm not getting on you sly... just mentioning that I've yet to see a perfect system.
