#549304 This past week has been a whirlwind for me.
In short, I am about to undergo some major surgery with a few days in the hospital and recovery at home for a few weeks.
Biopsies (taken today) will determine what occurs after that.
Strangely enough, I am at peace with all of it .... so far.
I give all the glory to my Savior for that.
My wife is the typical worried supportive wife --- but mine.
However, my daughter is not doing so well with her daddy not doing well. And, all she knows ids I am having a big surgery.
She has said many things to me the past week that have made me melt and some of them was her worry we would not be able to go camping, fishing, to Hershey Park, Liberty football games, and so many other small things we do together.
I have lived by Scripture and Strong Fathers - Strong Daughters, by Meg Meker.
It is now a double edged sword during this time for both her and I.
I understand prayers will come my way and my wifes way and please send them.
But, I would think any parent would understand I really want the bulk of the prayer power going towards my daughter --- Amber.

Thank you kindly. I always feel like a Nigerian internet banker when I say that.

Just found out today the surgery is on May the 4th and I should be back to work the first week of July.

After my two week stay I can testimony a multitude of ways I saw him work and work through others.
I could eaily spen a few hours recounting my experiences.
I just wonder how many of some of the people I saw him working through realized they were a vessel at that time.
Every moment counts as we never know the one that will be of value to another.

Thank you for asking.
Radiation and Chemotherapy pills have been completed for over two weeks.
Awaiting the start of ported chemotherapy which begins October 9. Of course right before the next home game so I hope I respond well. They delay was put in place so I can recover from radiation/chemo to better be able to mange ported chemo.
Of course many side effects, but I am working through them.
Feeling much better after the gap in treatment which makes me less desire ported chemo cause' I know some things I do not desire may occur and I don't like to fell unwell --- but, it is what it is.
I am attempting to work while being treated and have only needed about a day every work week I needed to stay home so all thing considered that is going well and I hope it continues while doing the ported chemo.
The ported chemo will last into January some time.

The key --- staying focused on the Lord, maintain positive thoughts and outlook, and "never give in, never, never, never, never" Winston Churchill

Proud of you man! Coworker recently underwent BC chemo, a neighbor was recently treated at MD Anderson for stage 4 non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and I was diagnosed with PC almost a year ago (watchful waiting). So I have been doing a lot of research. I'm in section 214. Would like to say hi next home game if possible.

Thank you. I would like to meet as well. We also tailgate in the Yellow lot. Depending on your arrival time we can introduce about anywhere. We sit in 105 as a reference point, but at some point I will forwards my cell to via private message.
PC is unique. I saw my grandmother travel that road so I have at least my personal perspective.
My father had surgery for neo blastoma the same day I had my first surgery.
He is now under palliative care.
BC runs in my family as well, and other cancers.
Not sure if it unfortunate or a blessing but I certainly have had exposure to cancer.

Sly ... I hope I do not end up travelling to Texas for care ....
The cancer center I am going through is associated with Johns Hopkins so I am confident what can be done is being done.
I can't state enough from all I hear my prognosis is good.

#560313 Update.

Went in for my first ported chemotherapy today. All was going well. I stood up to take a picture of the view I had from my room and I occluded. They fixed it and I carried on. I went to the rest room and occluded again. They provided corrective action. It finall came to the pump and when I would stand there was no flow through the pump.
I was sent for a dye test and it turns out I have a kink and a hole in my port tubing. So, the kink is tightene when I stand and shuts everything down and apparently having chemotherapy seep into the muscle is not good.

10.10.18 at 11:30 I am having surgery to replace my port and the plan is two week from today to resume chemotherapy.
The good news is with no complictions we can still make the game this weekend.
The great news is I know I am in great hands that has a great plan for me and I place my worries and fears in that; so I am doing well.

#560362 Surgery went well. Just moved the port. Apparently I am a liitle more active than some cancer patients so my muscle movements created the kink. The move and a few stitches along the line will keep it from kinking.

#561976 First things first LUDAD I had sent you a private message in an attempt to meet .... but I see it was not opened yet.... Weather will dictate the next two games for us.

So, this is real. I had another port placed tody. The second placed port did not work. Both of the first two ports were subclavian. This time interventional radiation placed the port and went over the collarbone and went jugular with this one .
One break would be nice. I will find out Friday if this port works as I am scheduled to have a blood draw before my chemo on Monday.

#569849 Quick update!
As always PRAYERS are requested for full healing.
Today was the beginning of the back end: first chemotherapy after the halfway point. At this point I will not go into full detail but the side effects are a struggle. Ended up being diagnosed with a DVT and PE two weeks ago. Let's just say DVT's do not feel well. My clot ran from my hip to my knee. Fortunately I survived the PE. I am breathing well again and instead of feeling like my leg was struck with a ball peen hammer it just feels pinchy now. That is all good as things are going in the right direction. Clots are a risk with where I am at but the do not pretreat as one never knbows wher it will go and that fact that Luvenox is less than cheap. With Lovenox I give myself shots twice a day and now they will keep me on this until chemotherapy is completed.
I am fighting. I find if I have time to worry I have time to pray and the prayer is much more beneficial than the worry.
Please pray! Thank you.
I will also add to please pray for my wife and daughter as they some at times to struggle with this more than I do. Please pray for peace for them .
God Bless.

#573317 WOW! An amazing and humbling experience this past week. The people of God do such great works.
I am just asking for prayer for our entire community.
We attend a small church The towns census is approximately 200.We hold five churches in town. Many born in the 1700's and Early 1800's.
My church helda tag sale to benefit our family. Sold food and many other donated items from church members (clothing, household, electronic, exercise equipment, and so on.)
Many in our church volunteered for cooking, serving, setting up, selling, cleaning up, manning the pay station, and many other tasks.
This small church in one day of sale and weeks of hard prep work raised $3400.10 for our family.
It is one thing when you are donating your time to causes but when you are the beneficiary it is a whole new ball game.
Tough to let pride go for one.
Humbling and touching to see so many who care and love. We never felt like nobody cared during our families struggle this just went above and beyond anything we expected. One tiny church community. Anybody who has trials of any kind understands how struggles can mount. We have been fighting my cancer since my first surgery May of last year and many things personally, financially, and professionally have changed. I am BLESSED beyond belief to have our church family. What a rock to have to begin with, then this.
Anyhow, If I can keep going only four weeks of Chemotherapy left. I almost did not get my treatment yesterday as a result of it's effects on me. Last two treatments were cut by 10 percent, next one twenty percent, and this one he cut back by 50 percent ... he was so close to not treating me this week. I am ready to be done but I have my focus on the end of treatments and beginning to rebuild the many physical things I have lost. I am just thankful to still be here. prepared to meet my glorious maker but if I can delay that meeting I am all for it.
As typical, international prayers for my family especially my wife and daughter are appreciated. They are always more upset about all of this than I am.
Thank you for continued prayers.
God Bless.

#573318 God is amazing! Your spirit through this experience based on your posts has been outstanding. If we believe God has things under control ... God has things under control!

Still praying for you and I will add your family to the experience. The end of the treatments is in sight!

#574799 Asking for prayers for physical recovery!!
i can not belive how much strength I have lost. Right now I am walking only 1.5 miles in an hour. Knees hurt, hips are in pain. I push to improve. working through the pain is not impossible. A small workout like this is enough to wipe me out. Every muscle, tendon, cartilage needs to be rebuilt. I belive I will do it but now I am not clouded by bravado and understand this will be a ton of work to recover. And, I have not even addressed cardio of upper body.
My goal is to be able to fish this spring and have most of my strength back by September.

I am still taking Lovenox until April. The doctors will not evaluate whether or not the cancer is gone until after I am off Lovenox. I hate waitng for that determination. I will drive on like I am fine until then.
LAST CHEMO TREATMENT ON THE 25th and CHEMO PUMP TAKen OUT THE 27th!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Can't wait to ring that bell! Another phase bits the dust!
Spring game still not looking good for me. Behind the scenes my wife is trying to make this happen but I am not so confident so early out of Chemo. Anyhow, we have a financial mess to get in order. I had a dream when I started I would return to work quickly however, reality is now another thing. My physical recovery has a ton to do with this.

I am BLESSED! I have made it this far!!!! I would not have made it this far this well without prayers and my faith in our Lord and Savior.

Thank you all for the prayers.
