Have an interview on Monday for a job in Farmville and I learned some second hand information today through very qualified sources that I am the only one being interview for it and that as long as I don't screw up the interview on Monday, I'll be offered the job.

Financially it's not the greatest job (won't go into details as it will potentially reveal the organization), but it could be a good career move. I can always leave after a year as well, so I won't be stuck in a multi-year contract of any sort.

Problem: I'm really not sure if I want to leave Lynchburg. I've lived here my entire life (26 years, including all my college years) and I am pretty attached to the city and being "home."

Anyone have any advice? I've never realistically faced the prospect of leaving home so I'm having a hard time making a logical decision.

I know people who commute farther than that every day just for a job. You'll only be an hour away so it's not like you can't visit friends on the weekend once in a while. Besides, even if the job isn't that good, you'll be more likely to find a better one if you're already employed.

It should help me if I have a run in with one of the many farmers around there. I'm sure they will be impressed with my ability to plant, grow, harvest, and sell strawberries in like 4 hours

Take it from a Farmville native, its really not that far. I can drive 460 from Roanoke to Rt. 307 (where you turn left to connect to 360 to go to Richmond) in my sleep.

I knew people who commuted to Liberty from Farmville. And if you really want to be close to Lynchburg, then just live in Appomattox.
