BJ what you are plans after graduation?
For me right now its get through my internship this summer. Then comes an interesting turn I think...

I have a real heart for young people...have since I graduated high school. I originally came to LU intending to be an education major specializing in Math in order to become a middle school math teacher. After my first semester though, things took a turn and I figured teaching wasnt for me, but I wanted to do something with young people. A couple months ago I was talking to a friend of mine and she was telling me about these wonderful kids she was a nanny for and it got me to thinking about the wonderful things kids are, and how they have a level of joy that really isnt seen in the world today. At that moment I felt the Holy Spirit tugging at me and I felt like God was calling me to go to seminary.

So this summer Im applying to the Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary to pursue a Master of Arts in Religion (MAR) with a concentration in Youth Ministry. What Id like to do with it is become a youth speaker. I feel that God can use my being in sprts media to open doors into schools and speak to children and teens and to hopefully help really cultivate that joy that they have at a young age and share with them ideas like finishing what you start (like Im doing this weekend), and finding your passion in life and pursuing it with all your heart and doing what it takes to make your dreams come true.

Its funny though...I originally wasnt even thinking grad school until a couple years ago (I was going to go for my MA in COMS) and then after I talked to some people about it I had decided it wasnt for me and Id just go right into the workforce and then God spoke to me as I mentioned in the story. Its not a "ten year plan" necessarily RF, its more God making me realize that sports broadcasting shouldnt be an end unto itself, but a means to an end that glorifies Him.

If I dont stop by the party and pick it up I'll come by next week after I get off from my internship.

ATrain is right that I cane in a year before he did but to put it in numerical terms, I'll be 27 this summer and believe me Dr CJ...when I was singing the alma mater tonight it felt like I was lifting a huge weight off my shoulders this weekend.

Well an update on things in my life:

The Lord is really showing me more and more that doing some youth speaking is part of what He wants to do in my life and I finished my application to seminary I just need to add my transcript and a couple forms to wrap up my application packet. Hopefully I'll know for sure before classes start (even though I wont be starting til Spring 2010)
