Alan Sweeton, who is a former student of mine & an LU alumnus, is undergoing brain surgery to remove a tumor this morning in Philadelphia at the University of Penn. hospital. Here's the email that I received from his dad today:
On Tuesday Alan was diagnosed with a large tumor in his right frontal lobe. At 8:30am Monday morning (about 8 hours from now) he will be operated on at Univ. of Penn Hospital to remove the tumor. Within a week the pathology of the tumor will be determined and we will know if he will need radiation or chemo. Dr’s expect a week in the hospital and then time in a Rehabilitation facility. The old hags may know Alan by his nickname, "Bigs". He's a 6'6" & 300 lb. English major who threw the hammer his freshman year in college. Pray for Alan's surgery and for his complete recovery. There's a Facebook prayer group for him called "Pray for Biggs."
