Our Christian foundation is what makes our university unique. This is the place to bring prayer requests, discuss theological issues and how to become better Champions for Christ.

So many spiritual giants have fallen in 2007:

Lee Roberson
Jerry Falwell
Ruth Graham
D. James Kennedy

I've moved this to the Chapel.

He clearly was a man used mightily by God over the course of his lif ein the ministry.

Yeah, and a guy named George otis (who practically pioneered radio ministries) passed away as well (and to another extent, Tammy Faye Baker, although I wouldn't call her a spiritual giant -- but certainly a public, visible face of Christianity, like it or not).

Who does that really leave? Pat Robertson, Dobson, Oral Roberts? Billy Graham (although he is in a class of his own)?

I guess we really need to pray for the next generation of Christian leaders -- Rick Warren, Jim Wallis, Joel Osteen, Bill Hybels, Franklin Graham, and I guess we should include Jonathan Falwell and probably Gordon Robertson -- because the time to step up is rapidly approaching...

I really enjoyed listening to Dr. Kennedy. He was a very intelligent man and was able to speak with authority and conviction. I had the pleasure of meeting him when he came to a Super Conference one year. He will certainly be missed.

Another giant fallen. Thank you for your work Dr. Kennedy, I can only imagine the joy of being called home and away from the sickness he had battled for years.

God Forbid! Joel Osteen? His theology can be summed up best as: "think happy thoughts...it will make you healthy, wealthy and wise."

Like him or not, Joel is one of Christianity's movers & shakers. He pastors America's largest church ... even if that church has moved far away from its Baptist roots.

And for the record, after television portion of their services ends they have a full scale invitation. I was at Lakewood two Sundays ago.

I know he gives an invitation. But what are people repenting of? He doesn't ever mention sin.

I lived in S. Fla for almost my whole life. Although not on as large of scale, he was similar to Dr. Falwell in how he confronted the culture and took some very unpopular stands on some social issues. Broward County is a very liberal area and Dr. Kennedy was a conservative voice that will be missed.
