LU Drops TRACS Accreditation

Considering where this accreditation board is located this is a rather interesting development.
Liberty makes accreditation change

Liberty University has voluntarily withdrawn from its accreditation through the Transnational Association of Christian Colleges and Schools (TRACS).

For many years, Liberty has maintained accreditation through both TRACS and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) — but one accreditation is more than sufficient for the school to keep its strong academic reputation.

“Most schools only have one [accrediting body],” said Liberty University Chancellor Jerry Falwell Jr. “SACS has always been our primary accrediting agency.”

Frankly TRACS needed LU more than LU needed TRACS.

If my memory serves me, their Director, Dr. Fitzgerald, is our former academic dean.

Good memory, Olldflame: that's the same guy. According their website, he was actually a VP. You might recognize a few other familiar faces on the TRACS team: http://www.tracs.org/commission.htm

Is that in response to mine? I hate to beat the same drum, but regional accr. only matters. Liberty stuck with the right one. Anything else other than the regional accr. bodies carries a certain stigma.

nah it was just a response to the move....we've already made a lot of changes in a years time....I just dont want to many to fast, even though in the large scheme this is minuscule they add up

Yeah I hear you on that. You always wonder what the slippery slope effect will be.
