Mall/Value City news

Well supposedly Value City is now closing up shop at River Ridge. And word from one of their workers is that moving into that space will be a movie theater. I don't know what company, but that's the initial report, from me.

So did I scoop all the local outlets, or is this already common knowledge?

I think this is the first time it's been said, ON HERE!

i hadn't heard this. I figured no one would want to move into that mall considering it will probably not be there in 5 years, or at least not as a mall

I had heard some time ago that Value City was closing, but nothing about what was going in there. I have found some bargains there, especially on shoes, so I'm kindof sad to see them go.

It is the worst, most annoying lighting EVER! I don't go in there unless at gun point (by the misses). Heck, I don't go to the mall but like once every 2 years anyway!

I heard this has been out for months, so how is this new? is it happening soon?

Because of the lighting? Can I make a suggestion?

Yup, but I'm not a NewsHound. Not new to them!

I prefer the emotional kind.

Are we talking about Value City Furniture? That is still around in Virginia? I used to love their cheesy over the top commercials that felt like monster truck ads.

we don't have a value city furniture store around here. Altough that's where all my furniture comes from. It was very well priced. This was just a regular Value City. they sell clothes and other various things for very cheap. Like namebrand irregular stuff. One of those kinds of stores.

It's more like a deep discount department store Sly. Mostly clothing and shoes, some jewelery, luggage, housewares and odds and ends. Cheapest men's suits in town. Most I wouldn't be seen dead in, but I needed a suit a while back and kept checking every few days and found something halfway decent for 89.00.

This is long overdue. Their theatre is by far the worst I've ever been in. We went one time and after not turning the lights off, the movie stopping three times and my feet glued to the floor from whatever slop was left previously, I had to leave.

However, I do like Value City. You have to dig for good deals but sometimes you find gold.

It only looks like gold because of the bad lighting.

Knuckles, first you question my credibility, then you check with your news buddies, then say it's old news. Hah! I fully expect to see a story on this on tonight's broadcast, or at least on the website. Turds.

i've gotten a couple of suit coats from value city, sure they arent high quality like stuff you'd get at S&K, but then again i think it's illogical to spend a couple hundred dollars on a suit coat.

We have a mall in Lynchburg?? Who knew :D
Cant see a movie theatre going in there. Word on the street has been that the new extension of the Kohl's strip mall will have a theatre with Stadium seating. I absolutely REFUSE to go see a movie at the mall. For starters there is a good chance I could be involved in some gang incident!! Second, the seating is awful, third, my current plasma tv is about as big as their screens and finally THEIR POPCORN IS AWFUL!! Perhaps it is bcause it is prepopped and brought over from the theatre's at the Plaza.

I heard the same thing about the stadium seating theatre by kohls while listening in on a conversation between the head manager of old navy and owner of those buildings. (not being creepy just listening to random conversations, I work at old navy, they were talking by me)

That's not creepy. It would only be creepy if they were talking by you and you weren't wearing pants.

high quality at S&K? I really hope you're joking.
