New road finally going in?

It looks as though the new road going from between North and the FOC down to Wards road may finally be going in. There have been more trucks up through there the past couple days, and there's drainage pipes sitting there. Maybe it's finally getting started.

Jr. told me the night he was at SJ's crib that the railroad had approved the road and they were going to finish it. so it looks like they're actually doing it this time

I meant to say that too. I'm glad you remembered it. If they get that road dug under the railroad tracks and get the access road in for the buses, campus congestion will die down big time.

i agree. that is the best single on campus improvement that can be made quickly. i'm glad to see it taking place.
now if we could get the circle demolished...

Just to clarify, are we talking about both an automobile tunnel under the tracks AND a perimeter road around campus?

the perimeter road around campus is actually much easier than the road under the railroad tunnel, in fact, much of it is already in place with a road that already runs down into the valley by the railroad tracks by davids place.
the tunnel under the tracks is supposed to be two lanes with i believe a bike lane as well. i've heard that the road under the tracks may have the potential to be a double out after large events like football games, etc...
and yes, very difficult to do business with the railroads... not going to disrupt millions of dollars worth of freight every day just to put a road in if it's not done exactly right...

I was under the impression that the "perimeter road" was a road that will be on the very edges of the main campus? Is this not the case? Becuase if it is, that new Religion Hall addition is in the way of where that road would be. Or where I thought it was going to be.

Unless the Towns-Alumni Center is made into a drive-thru. That would be sweet!!

It's awesome to hear that the railroad tunnel road is finally progressing.
But I thought I heard them make the announcement last year about starting the road around campus. Then they never did anything. What the heck happened?

Had to get the stuff through the railroad companies. That was the hold up for everything.

OK, it seemed like they got everyone excited for a sweet new road and then nothing ever happened.

I drove off campus yesterday by the back entrance and noticed that some of those 4x4 posts on both sides of the road had been pushed over. Maybe the road is going in there, behind the outfield.

Yeah I think that's where it's gonne be.

Yep, behind the outfield indeed. they've actually had a 'road' if you want to call it that (more of a trail) behind campus for YEARS... it just wasn't used for driving, more like parking... (and not the cars...) although i guess you could technically call it 'backseating?'
I know there seemed to constantly be a few mattresses out there. I'm sure simply for comfort while looking at the stars or while in the middle of deep biblical studies...

Perimeter road nears completion
posted on Thursday, July 10, 2008 | in General News
Work on a perimeter road around the west side of campus is almost complete.
The road, to be called "Regents Parkway," runs between the baseball field
and railroad tracks to Campus North, connecting with parking lots near
Thomas Road Baptist Church.

every time I drive by it, which is every couple days, it looks nowhere near done. Although, I guess it has been a few days.

I drove past the new road tonight in my Jeep on my way to Sly's uncle's house. The new road has asphalt now, I was really tempted to take a ride on it, but didn't want LUPD to arrest me the day before Early Orientatation.
