A Sea Of Red

According to WSET and confirmed by Amazon.com, Mrs. Macel Falwell has recently authored a biography of her husband that is due to be released in May.

The publisher says the book will include details about Falwell's friendship with Ronald Reagan, his relationship to Larry Flint, and September 11th.

That's pretty cool. Jerry gave away copies of his autobiography when I was in college, and I got him to sign it for me (May 2003). I read it, and it was pretty cool, but there were some stories he left out (specifically, the Larry Flynt episode).

Macel plugged this during one of our hoops telecasts. It was a miracle she spoke on camera from what I understand. She doesn't like doing that sort of stuff. I am looking forward to reading the book though.

It's to be released on the Doc's 1 year anniversary of his death.

Jonathan announced this at TRBC yesterday during the Easter service. I am looking forward to getting a look at it myself.

I am surprised, but pleased, that she wrote a book. Considering that she seems to be content to be in the background. I don't believe I've ever heard Mrs. Falwell speak.

I will have to pick up a copy...well done, Mrs. Falwell.

I finished the biography the Sunday evening of Mother's Day, after having just bought it on Friday after baccalaureate. It's probably the best $20 that I have ever spent, because she gave you insights into JF's life & family & death that I wouldn't have had without having read it. On many levels, the book is more of Macel's love story for Jerry than a traditional biography.

I guess it would not be appropriate to ask an English professor to provide the cliff notes version so the rest of us would not have to read the whole thing.

I've got the book, but haven't read it yet. Will start tomorrow!

Picked up the book at TRBC after service and read the entire book on our 11 hour trip back to MI. It truly is an amazing love story (guys, you'll like it too!) and so many insights on things I never knew...like Macel bungee jumping!

What book are we talking about here, I haven't heard!

MRS SCAR read this book in 3 days last week and I started it a few days ago. It is really a great read and a great love story. I am about halfway done and I can't tell you how fortunate I feel to have been a part of Liberty and TRBC for all these years. It really does give some good insight on a lot of different things from Race relations to the humble beginnings of the church to Jerry and Macel's families and so much more! You have to get a copy if you don't already own one. I am going to pass it on to my mom who turns 80 in August. Many of the things Jerry was doing like going door to door and starting a bus ministry, my mother was doing the same stuff in the streets of Philadelphia back in the late 60's and early 70's. Jerry always told me I was lucky to have a mom that prays for me every day and after reading just a part of this book, I really understand what he was trying to tell me. I think my wife cried during the whole time she read the last chapter!

Scar, is a great book and a good read. My FIL knew Jerry very well, went to school with him and knew the family intimately. It is good to hear some more stories about such an influential person and a great Man of God.

I finished the book today. I didn't cry but that is only because I seem to have forgotten how to do so but man was it emotional reading those last chapters! I loved the big guy a lot. I really miss him after reading the book. Macel is a strong person and I am really glad she has her close family to get her through this unbelievable emptiness she must have felt in those first few months of not having Jerry around. My mom pulled out my old graduation tape on Memorial Day weekend and she was telling me how that was a proud day for her. My mom is not the most technically savy person but she had the tape cued up for me to look at it (that's where I get that from). I turned it on to see a few people walk across the stage and I recognized a tall athletic young man that got his degree handed to him by Dr. Falwell but there was one thing different than every other graduate that crossed the stage that day; Dr Falwell hugged and kissed me on the cheek! I didn't even remember that to tell the truth but he had actually told me on a couple of occasions in life that he was proud of me and now after reading this book, and seeing that moment and remembering the times I had at Liberty I am so proud to have Jerry in my life! Ok, sorry for the sentimental stuff guys. Back to whatever you were doing

That's quite ironic Scar. After I finished reading the book, I watched my graduation and then the funeral.

Late to the party. I bought the book, but then gave it to my mom who read it, then my dad, then my girlfriend, then both her parents, then her sister, then her sisters fiancee, and i started it tonight. It should be required reading for all new students, not just because the new students dont know who he is, but it also helps with the miracle that is LU and Thomas Road, and its just such a great example of a Godly relationship and how it should look.

That's awesome. I have the book, just haven't cracked it open yet.
