Wondering if Coach McKay and his assistants are scouting this tourney looking for the next...Russell Monroe.
With Liberty University on its Spring Break this week, more than 500 homeschooled basketball players from as far away as Austin, Texas, Brevard County, Fla., and Binghamton, N.Y., have invaded the campus for the 12th annual East Coast Basketball Championships. The 52-team event, which started Monday and concludes Friday, features 130 games in 13 divisions, ranging from middle school girls to varsity boys (five divisions)....

“We started out with eight teams in one gym on a Saturday (at Fredericksburg Christian School),” said Davis, who expects this week’s tournament to draw some scouts from D-II and D-III schools, including Bridgewater College, “some who will be coming down incognito and anonymous.”

They are looking. They are leaving no stone unturned...which is good.

I've been reffing this tournament every night this week. Did two games with GMTM on Wednesday night. There are a few decent looking players there....you can tell they are still kind of raw in terms of skills, but with the right coaching, they could develop into legitimate college players.

HCYA's main squad is at the national tourney and not Lynchburg, correct?

Or more likely Cider, looking for the next Kyle Ohman. These are the kind of kids who are probably considering schools like LU anyway, and maybe could help out as a walkon. I doubt if our men's team will be giving out schollies to any more homeschoolers in the near future.

I would have no problem with us landing Jesse Sanders.

Wow, I played in this on Noke's Home school team on JV, when it was up in Fredricksburg. If any talent is there, it's going to be pretty raw. The coaches for these teams are generally parents, and most of the time, not all, they don't know exactly what they are doing (coming from my experience).
