Does that company still post here? I saw that he posted on the old board when we were making the move over here. Anyway, I went on a stroll through the bookstore on Monday, while everyone else was working, looking for a flames window decal. Much to my surprise they had those and those large car magnets. I plan on getting those when I get some money (as most of you know the stuff is a little pricey but that's what you can expect when things are ordered in a smaller quantity). Anyway, while there are tons of different things there I want, it seems to me like the school is going away from logo continuity like they had said they were trying to fix. There must have been 3 or 4 different scripts, at least, of Liberty University/LU that I saw. I think all of the colors matched, aside from things that arent geared towards atheletics, which is good. I love the logo of the charging eagle rolling up his sleeve but I just thought we were trying to get away from everything else to "brand" our school and it's logo. Thoughts? Opinions? Do you still read this?

I almost forgot. I thought you guys were going to change the court in the Vines in between semesters. The courts over in the Schilling look awesome. Is that something that's planned for summer perhaps?

We're still Here!!

Love the new board.

The bookstore will always be a problem. They have the right to create any material they would like without restrictions. They have done better with the Athletic logo, but until the University develops a new Academic Logo you will continue to see many different styles for Liberty University. There will be some additional resources to buy Athletic gear in the future - Stay Tuned...

Vines Center Floor - This has been my personal project for over 2 years. It's a battle and the Court is kicking my Butt. It's a complete timing issue. It was supposed to be completed in summer. Vendor dropped out of doing it last minute and we couldn't find a replacement vendor in time - not a lot of court painters out there:) Then we had it schedule during Christmas Break and it was going to be tight. Well the Beacon Credit Union Tournament was not on the master schedule, which had to be held in Vines and took 3 days off our timing and with Winterfest there was just not enough time. It will happen - Lord willing - this summer.

Sounds good. Thanks for answering my questions.

Did anyone see the feature and picture of Josh in the Alumni letter? Good article. I wish they had written more about all the things he has done but it was still good to see it included in there. Also a small mention about a young man by the name of GADO!

nice write up though- LUs marketing is obviously in very competent hands.

Yes...the Eagle rolling up his sleeves is a great seller...its going to stay, and personally, I don't see a problem (as long as I continue to get a paycheck).

Yeah, I vaguely recall getting one of those newsletters a few years back. The school never seems to have trouble finding me to ask for money. I'm surprised I'm not on that mailing list.

Are you still getting invites for College for a weekend?

by El Scorcho
I don't get the Alumni letter or CFAW invites, but I have been getting tuition bills for $0.00. Not just once, but consistently over the past few years. In fact, this year I even got a 1098-T form so I can inform the IRS of the $0 I paid in tuition last year. So far I haven't been able to make the Business Office understand what a waste of money it is to send alumni $0 tuition bills along with the other papers that get stuffed into those envelopes. Oh, and the cost of the extra postage. Oh well. I've tried. :?

Sorry you had to see and read that

Thanks for the kind words. Go to LUalumni.com and update your Info. Pass the word. The better the list - the better the support they will be able to create. Not just financially, but promotionally speaking. Andy os doing a great job trying to keep LU Alumni informed and creating cool future outings.

hey Proto: any plans for LU to do something like CCU is evidently doing : replica jerseys? I know SLY has been hot on this, as well as H'BURG and others. I'll send you a check right now if you can get me the goods

We've had those at Coastal for about a year. They were there before football season. I have some friends with them. They're not worth $50 in my opinion. I'd much rather wear one of the 17 t-shirts I have.

I never called and update dmy infoi, but suddenly I received the newsletter in the mail yesterday. I guess it took the Pony Express awhile to make it across the deep south.

You are the man! Its great to see you on here a lot, too- kinda reassuring to us old hags 400 miles away that the job is definitely getting done. Good PR in a lot of the mailers getting out lately too (the Liberty Journal, etc)

Hey Proto - The eagle flames logo rocks and I love to buy anything I see it on. I have some questions though that perhaps you can answer.

Is Liberty working on choosing one academic logo? I see several versions of the intertwined LU around, some rounded, some squared. Have you given them some choices? I'd love to have a consistent LU logo, sort of like the VT for Virginia Tech. I have some of the Flames logo magnets for my car, but would love to have an LU type logo magnet too.

I do buy many items at the bookstore, but have noticed that their Flames logo doesn't contain the same "Liberty Flames" script. I noticed the ends of the "L" and "E" are not slanted as the actual logo is. I think that is part of what makes the logo unique. I wrote and asked the bookstore about this, but never received a response.

I also like the Eagle logo rolling up his sleeve and would buy items with it on it as well. I'd buy a house flag and/or garden flag too with either logo on it to show off my Flames pride. You see UVA and VT flags all around. Have any idea if those items will be coming out soon. One last item (and again I have asked the bookstore without success) is to have Wincraft pennants made with the Flames logo. You see lots of them around in B&C Collectibles here in Lynchburg, and my sports room is full of my favorite teams, except the school where I graduated...Liberty.

I look forward to the jerseys coming out. I wear a VT one whenever I go to those games. Man if we could ever get the type of atmosphere at Williams stadium that is at Lane stadium and the crowds will come.

Thanks.

All I can say is "It's coming"

Bookstore? I have given them the logo many times and they continue to produce things that aren't right. The font is custom - we chopped of the edges - until they use the right file - they will continue to destroy the Flames brand.

As far as an academic logo - it's along story. Here is what we presented about a year ago. They wanted a more ivy league look.
