Two area schools pull meat after beef recall

At least two local school systems have taken action in their lunchrooms after the U.S. Department of Agriculture ordered the largest beef recall in history.

Appomattox County has removed beef from the school menu. In Amherst County the affected beef has been set aside following the announcement that nearly 143 million pounds of beef could be affected nationwide. So far no illnesses have been linked to the recalled meat.
