Hey guys. I know there have been some jokes made about how my posting has been down this semester, and this is one of the reasons why. The Sport Marketing class at Liberty is hosting a golf tournament. We are putting on the event starting with a $0 budget. The reason I'm posting this here is two fold. The first reason is to invite anyone in the Lynchburg area to play in the tournament. It is being held April 12th at Ivy Hills Golf Club in Forest. The cost is $200 for a team of four ($50 per player). The second reason is to ask for sponsorships or donations of any kind.
All of the proceeds of the tournament are going to Game Changers. For those that don't know, Game Changers was started by Dalton Stoltz. Dalton's been a goalie on the hockey team the past four years, and this is an organization he's started. It's a Sport Ministry program that I feel very strongly about and would feel that way even if I wasn't helping to promote them. You can find out more about Game Changers at their website (
http://www.gamechangers.org) or I can tell you more in a PM or e-mail if you'd like.
I know we have business owners on here, as well as people who enjoy playing golf. This tournament is a great way to advertise your company or just have fun on a Saturday morning. Last semester was the first time they had put on the tournament and it went very well. There are different tiers of sponsorship that is available with different incentives for each one.
One thing specifically that I wanted to throw out there was the idea of a FlameFans.com hole sponsor. We always talk about wanting to get more people on here and spread the word about FlameFans, and this is a chance to do that. A hole sponsor costs $150, which is only $10 from 15 people on here. We raised $250 last year easily to join the Flames Club, so $150 shouldn't be a problem. Not only would it get the website out in the public eye, but it'd support one of our own members and a great ministry program.
If you'd like more information on playing, sponsoring, or Game Changers please feel free to PM me or e-mail me at
jonathan.carone@gmail.com. Game Changers is something I really believe in and want to see it succeed.
Thanks for taking the time to read all of this. I know it was kind of long.

Come on, locals. This is a cool way to help our own member HolyGoalie and have some fun in the process.
I'm good to kick in 10 bucks for the hole sponsorship if we get enough others to join me.

I'm good for at least $10. The hole sign alone would make a great office decoration for someone.

Well, I want to play. I'll see about getting a foursome together.
And yes, I know this could now be used as someone's new signature.

Also, if anyone knows of someone who may be interested in sponsoring or playing, please let me know so I can contact them.

I'm bumping this back up. We're still looking for teams to play in this. Overall, we need another 10-12 teams to get to our goal.
It's $200 for a team of four.
Ledo Pizza is providing the food for after the tournament.
Schmokies is providing a sandwich to each golfer while on the course.
We've got a lot of things that we are raffling off and giving away as prizes (NFL apparel, Warrior Golf irons, along with others).
We're still working on different things to put in the bag we're giving every golfer. We're looking at a towel, tees, hopefully golf balls, a bottle of water, etc.
The tournament is NEXT Saturday, April 12 at 9am at Ivy Hills. Please, if anyone is capable and wants to play, get in touch with me as soon as possible. You can PM me on here, e-mail me (
jonathan.carone@gmail.com), or call me (336-830-1077). I'll come to you to get fill out the registration stuff in needed.

I've got to ref an AAU tournament here in town next Saturday. Sorry, man.

If I was going to be in town, I'd be in in a heartbeat. I'm sending this link to a few golfers I know in the 'burg, so maybe they can get a team or two together.
SJ, you may want to hit up some of the local churches. Most of the pastors I know play golf (it's what we do on Mondays lol), and they could probably get a group together from their church.
$50 for 18 at Ivy Hills isn't bad at all, when you think about it ....

Ok guys so here's the deal... I'm in this marketing class now and we are DESPERATE for TEAMS and SPONSORS. A hole sponsor is $150 and a team of 4 is $200. or $50 a person. I'd greatly appreciate it if all who were in town who play could participate. I'm sure the Flamefans team would win with all of you golfers out there. Here's the details for this year's golf tourney.
its at Ivy Hills this year again its on April 4th. There will be prizes such as clubs and movie baskets etc. for certain holes. If you love Golf its a good way to get out and play. If you are interested please PM me and i'll e-mail you the registration form and give you more details. This is for my grade so if thats any extra incentive on top of helping the Sport Management scholarship fund then there you go! Thanks guys I really appreciate it!

Yeah, these guys are getting scrutinized pretty hard. The economy is in the crapper and people aren't wanting to spend money on stuff like this. Unfortunately, because of that, they're all going to get bad grades. If you've got the money to play this tournament, it'll be really good to help these guys out.

we're all set, tourney is this saturday and almost all of the class did what they needed to do. some stragglers couldnt get any teams or sponsors - good luck with that 30 page case study. the rest of us will be doin' work at 7am saturday.
FFG and I get to drive around in the cart all day and "monitor the golfers" - supposedly. Just glad I didn't get stuck with Smiley.
