Liberty University and the Virginia School of Arts have created a joint venture called the Lynchburg Education Broadband Joint Venture with the goal of developing a wireless broadband internet service to the Lynchburg region.
Does this mean the whole area will be Wi-Fi/Wireless/Internet whatever?
If so, that's darn cool. I know downtown 'Noke is like that.

Folks...NTelos already has WIRELESS broadband for the Lynchburg region. In fact, one of their transmitters is on Candler's Mountain...

From what I understand, WiMAX provides much greater speeds when you're close enough to the source.

WiMax is what your phones will all be operating on very soon. When the system is in place on a widespread basis, you can forget satellite radio because you will be able to listen to any station on the internet in your car at anytime. This next step is going to be a doozy.

Ntelos' wireless internet is a joke. We were going to get that and ditch adelphia cable internet. Ntleos said we were supposed to get a very strong signal. We put the modem thing in every room in the house, even right in front of the windows, couldn't get ANY signal, much less a strong one. I'm somewhere between forest and Timberlake on that map, I should have at least been able to get a weak signal based on that map.
