Organizing meeting on Saturday the 9th.
Liberty University Students for Barack Obama Meeting (Organizing)
I don't know all the members of the Liberty Students for Barack Obama group, and since I've been asked to be the new chapter coordinator, I want to get together and hear everyone's ideas of how to contribute to the Obama campaign effort. It will be after Super Tuesday, but there will still be plenty to be done!

This does not suprise me. When I was there during the 2004 election, we did a small survey for one of my classes to try and determine the student body support and found that (if i recall correctly) about 15-18% identified themselves as Dems and supported Kerry.

I don't agree a lot of Obama's views, but he is very appealing to college students...he is young, good looking and is a very good speaker....put those things together and you will be able to get quite a bit of support from college students....its sad, but true

does not surprise me at all. though im not a dem, you can still be a christian and be a dem. i think a lot of fundemental christian schools and churches kinda put that you'd better vote republican vibe out there. i think it is good to have opposing political views at LU. it certainly did not used to be.

I don't see the big deal. I mean we do have the free will to choose who we wish to vote for. I personally get alot of heat for being a Ron Paul supporter but that is my choice. If they want to vote for Obama let them vote for Obama.

Yeah sadly enough people our age will simply listen to words and very rarely look to see beyond them....and that man is the best candidate in a LONG LONG time when it comes to speeches

I'll vote for Obama because he will bring back Camelot. He is just like JFK.

Here I believe is the organizer.
Her facebook page is really pretty funny. She describes herself as a "Mischief Maker." Oddly enough, she is married.

that is all LU needs now
I just want to hear why people would vote for Obama or Clinton at LU???
Then, I would like these same people to tell me who they are gonna vote for in 2010

I'm not saying I agree...I just don't understand allowing one party have club and not the other....if you aren't going to allow one to have a club then don't allow the other, at least it would be consistent

Think of it this way......Private, no need for consistency because they can do what they want...
If we were public, I would agree that we should have both groups...
However, I am trying to find an intelligent liberal at LU...

(if they were smart, they would be republican)

Bingo. If they were smart, they'd vote republican. Pro-life, fiscally conservative, lower taxes.

I have moved to republican until 2012 when I can vote Libertarian.....and I will go out on a limb to say that I am somewhat intelligent (well atleast I think so)
tell me what is the logic in that having republican clubs requires there to be a club for democrats??

There probably has not been the interest in a Young Democrats Club before...and perhaps no faculty member with the cahoonies to be the "sponsor."
(yes...we all value our jobs)

A couple years ago we tried to get a college libertarian group started and had a prof sponsor and everything but things fell threw at the last minute....

I had a girl in one of my classes ask our prof to sponsor a club (Dr. Beavers). ...she declined, don't know whatever happened to the girls efforts.

At dinner tonight with several other LC baseball parents, a couple were asking me about changes in the university since Doc's passing...first thing I thought of was the Obama Club...needless to say they were rather surprised, too, to hear about the organizational efforts.
As far as a Young Democrats Club...I think political activism...no matter how mis-placed...is a good thing for our young champions to embrace.

Yes, there has.
I was going to help start it. (No I am not a Dem, I agree with Postman on this one)
The guy who wanted to start it left school, and I don't feel like leading it, since I am not a democrat.
So, yeah, needless to say, there has been, and probably still is, interest.
