Alright, first day here was yesterday; I've got a few Q's

What's up with the TV's here on campus? Is it that we're not supposed to watch anything on TV in our dorm rooms Is it even worth it to buy an antenna?
Where are some good sites to watch IPTV from? I've read about IPTV while digging around the archives last night and earlier today.....No ESPN? aww, man.....
Otherwise, I'm happy to be here on-campus, finally. I'll have to get used to this, don't I?

IPTV has never worked for me, sorry I can't help ya with that.
You have to be hardwired into the network, not on wireless. I know that much about IPTV.
As far as a regular TV, you are allowed to watch pretty much anything. I mean, on occasion an overzealous RA might ask you to turn something off, but for the most part, as long as you don't disturb anyone you can watch anything...
And the rules aren't that bad, honestly...

It's a little bit of a change being here.
Google TVU. That's the best for tv stuff.

While we talking about "what's up with [X]", I didn't think they could make the circle look any uglier, but what's up with the blue trim on the trailers? I think a turd looks way better than a turd with blue trim on it.

We disagree on everything. I think they look better now. Not good by any means, but better.

I agree, i thought the other day .....for the price of painting , being the product and labor you could have just rented a bulldozer and done the job right....

Rarely do I agree with you...
in this case, I do.

Just hope your clothes still fit after 20 years, not even 2 years later and mine dont.

I could still fit the same clothes, but I wore them all out. I think the blue looks better.
Don't talk about bulldozing the circle dorms. I have a lot of memories in thos buildings. Especially the rats in 6.

LOL! I'm currently living on the Hill at 17, and none of my fellow roommates won't show up for the next couple of days, so it looks like I'll be playing PS2 with the Liberty team I created on NCAA Football 08, while looking for a suitable replacement for ESPN on my laptop.....I know my clothes will fit.....I'll probably get too big here, though!

oh man i can only imagine how horrible the trailer dorms look...
as for tv, i probably had the best reception in the dorm with 2 sets of rabbit ears... they still don't have at least cable jacks that give you local channels?...psshh
Posted: January 10th, 2008, 12:11 pm
by ATrain
I only needed one set of rabbit ears to get reception, and I was never asked by an RA to turn something off.
Oh...and the blue paint, what were they thinking?

They didn't have a problem with your gay porn?
Posted: January 10th, 2008, 12:14 pm
by ATrain
No, they wanted to watch it...I mean, why else would they enforce the hugging-the-other-sex-for-only-3-seconds rule?

it took me too...both were thrown into the big bush right outside our window...
we had numerous occasions where the rd would come and tell us to take them out and only put them up when we want to watch tv....that it looked "tacky"..
a) you could barely see them and
b) it was on the circle? tacky?
Posted: January 10th, 2008, 12:31 pm

I kept mine inside and got great reception...but I lived on East, so that may have had something to do with it.
However, if the RD had complaints about something looking tacky, it should've been about the dorm itself if it was on the circle.

I'm pretty sure they were thinking they wanted it to match the tower at Campus North, which is made of essentially the same material. So they painted them to match. At least they're
trying for some kind of uniformity.

except that they only painted like half of them. I'm sure they'll finish though. I hadn't even made the connection with that tower.

Funny the circle dorms look like a darker blue than the tower.....maybe im wrong though....

Probably the same blue, just the tower has faded.

my whole dorm discovered tvu last year. it was awesome, compared to nothing the year before.
tvu has a million channels, most of the random asain junk, but news sports local channels, anything. but they might have removed espn, not sure.
but still better compared to freshman year. no one on our hall even knew why we were praying for new orleans. (don't know how we didnt see it on the internet) then we were shocked when we found out about the flooding of the whole city.
alright anyways off campus now = tv all the time news sports constantly
