Campus improvements

So I took notice of the simple job that was just completed on the 460W onramp/offramp, just by the Extended Stay. They flattened that big mass of dirt and weeds, and looks like flowers and possibly a sign are to follow. You can now actually see oncoming traffic, and it look so much better. This is something that should have been done when that exit was first created, but for whatever reason, it wasn't.

It got me thinking about some of the recent improvements being made in and around campus, and how many of them are simple, logical, common sense fixes. LU's been around for how long, and these things are just now being done? Has the school hired some super-genius who actually sees things and does something about it? I love it, and think it's about time.

It was done because they needed fill dirt for the memorial at the Mansion and VDOT was cool with it.

No. He's been working here for a while, but now he's running the show.

i have been under the impression the Dr. Falwell's thought process was to grow first beautify second, and it seems Junior realizes in order to grow you must beautify to attract others....I could be completely wrong...or just partially right...whatever the case, I love all the little things that are happening around here, that is for sure

Well, according to Boyz 2 Men:

"Little things mean a lot
Appreciate what you got
If you give all what you have
It's forever we'll last
Don't sit around and wait for all
The great things in your life"

I dont want to give a stupid and political answer but the truth is it's a healthy mix of both! Example...Ice Arena, Ski Park, Main entrance...one is only for looks while the others are actual activities you can do yet I believe he understands they all are important for the long term

One of the best parts of the equation is that the school is his alma mater, too. Therefore, it follows that he also has an additional motivating factor in cointinuing it's stride to an all-around first rate institution. Throw in the fact that for the UVA Law Alumni get togethers and magazines, one would want to show how successful their ventures have been since graduating and...voila, let the good times roll.

This is a great thing IMO.

There was a segment on the local news tonight about our new non-snow ski park, the first of its kind in America, though they are apparently several of them over in Europe. I guess the designers were on campus today.

Did I miss something about the main entrance or is that a reference to the new fountain in front of DeMoss?

Yeah, this is going to be crazy...there are a lot of amazing projects taking place or about to begin

Two different projects...I'm not sure they are starting to attempt to make the main entrance like the drawing they have and presented to the board (I think it was in some publication as well) its a GREAT looking project...the fountain in front of demoss is something different

But to answer your question they moved dirt from the 460 entrance to another location so theres no longer a hill...

It would be nice if they could level and repave the roads on campus. I was glad I was in a rental car.

I feel mine was unfairly revoked, and will begin the appeals process to get it back.

we need to do something about the roads on campus, and i'm not talking about repaving. we need either a road from one end of campus to the other or either to make the main one wider with more lanes, but I don't know if thats possible. I know this is obvious, but I haven't heard any plans for it and its gotta be done eventually...

I was hoping you guys would pick up my sarcasm, as I was laying it on pretty thick. Besides, I was in high school in the mid-90's....all the chicks loved B2M, so in order to get close to the ladies....there were things I had to do. 8)

ok.. i understand, as a child of the 90's getting the ladies is a valid excuse. your man card has been reinstated.

aren't we doing a perimeter rd around the main campus and eliminating some of the interior ones? I thought HMO said something like that a while back.
