Anyone else feel that this is completly rediculous?

So SGA is hosting a Speed Date and all you can eat Domino's Pizza for 5 bucks with the proceeds going to a memorial for the late Dr. Falwell. To make matters worse this is set during CFAW. Is this really the impression we want to give prospective students and their parents? LU pushes the MRS degree enough do we really need this as well?

Maybe I am the only one but this really bothers me!

it doesn't bother me at all...but i do think its completely stupid....

Bad idea for College for a Weekend--yeah maybe. Otherwise, it would probably be fun for students....that is if they weren't to embarrassed to be part of it to begin with.

I'm not sure I understand what the big deal is. Can someone fill me in?

Just a chance to be cut down by as many girls as possible in the shortest time possible.

But seriously, folks. I'm just trying to understand. It just seems like some guys and girls talking for a few minutes over pizza to raise some money. I mean, not particularly exciting, but I guess I'm just having trouble seeing the harm?

For me it is just the message that is sends: SGA sponsering a speed date to raise money for a memorial to Jerry during CFAW says

1. SGA, the supposed school leadership is promoting dating for money
2. We can't think of a better way to raise money to memorialize our late chancellor and founder?
3. CFAW? Parents send your kids here and we will make sure they hook up before they leave
4. Why don't we just run a prostitution ring to raise money?
5. That MRS degree is way better than than the BS degree

This is disgusting, demoralizing and downright degrading to the university! (Cider, sorry for the alliteration I couldn't help it)

A little excessive wouldnt you say? I mean it is just a date! Hands are to be kept on the table the entire time! Seriously, this is no different then what happens on Facebook a million times a day with LU students except this time it's supervised

Is the timing great....no...but I dont see a bad light being shed on the University because of it

Sorry, but that's a bit of an over-reaction. At worst, this idea is lame but it's certainly not destructive.

SGA has promoted watching a COW CRAP IN A GRID, based on students buying grids( on the LU soccer field) and the winner splitting the money with SGA i think.....that was a few years back but after that nothing suprises me.

Yeah, I remember that I thought that was just plain stupid.

You do know this isn't actually "dating" right? It's just paying money to get into a social event that's basically just musical chairs with conversation thrown in.

Or is paying money to socialize also now taboo?
