Best use for the Bald Spot (if LU actually owns that)

If indeed LU owns it, what would be the best use for that spot, a park, or the "Liberty Light"--kind of Lynchburgs answer to the Roanoke Star?

A big Rogaine Billboard would be awesome
"Don't Let yourself end up like this!"

the PAmedic memorial multi-denominational temple/synagogue/shrine/mosque.
complete w/ red, white and blue exterior floodlights, and a 9 story portrait of me like Saddam Hussein used to have on the sides of buildings.
something understated like that.

Um, it's actually a Semi-Green Spot now. The very top is still bare but the undergrowth is taking it back over.

I can't even remember if it was Richmond or Roanoke that a few of us flew to for a concert (friend's roomie was in aviation).

There is a gigantic shining star that sits atop the hill next to the city in a park like setting next to what I believe is the Roanoke zoo...Roanoke is considered the Star City.

sissy.
I took a '70 Nova w/ no intact body mounts sideways down the ravine behind David's place.
nearly rolled it, but I'm quite the skilled driver.

So has anybody deteremined if LU does own that land? I drove by it the other day, and the city had a barrier up for a couple of years preventing trucks from getting on the trail to go up there, but a construction crew has flattened it and have packed down gravel. It looks as though they might even pave it. What on earth are they doing?

They're constructing a mausoleum for Jerry and AL Williams and Reber (but not Thomas).

Just heard on the radio from JonF that they paved their way up to the baldspot because they've placed the cannons up there for the fireworks. Fireworks will be 50% larger this year. He then went on to say that the view is so great that they're thinking about putting a restaurant up there. That'd be cool.
Restaurant

It's not so much paved as it is compacted gravel. But that still would eliminate the giant craters.

A restaurant would be nice, if they did it right, although I miss going up there at night with friends to watch shooting stars. That would still be the best use of the bald spot.

Liberty Light Memorial Park - Open to the public; take the opportunity to make an aesthetic landmark, something people who travel through central Virginia want to stop in and see, have some LU marketing materials available--they could also put a restaurant with the panoramic vistas in conjuction with this idea (if they did it right); it could be a really big draw if they allowed it to be open...more grassphalt, less asphalt.
