We talk about this a lot but it doesn't have a thread. It just comes up in random threads. Anyway, I was thinking about the lack of sports coverage in the area and how the media doesn't care what we do because they're too busy slobbering over VT and UVA. Then I went here http://www.coastalfans.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1740 and was reading about Buzz and his job situation. If you read the whole thing there's radio and newpapers and other stuff all right on top of this story. What gives? Why does that area care about CCU instead of USC or Clemson? Oh well, this will just be an ongoing thread in the existance of this board. Feel free to comment/rant.

I say you're wrong. Chris does a phenomenal job covering the Flames. I've seen a huge increase in coverage over the past year.

I was talking to JF at a baseball game last week and we were talking about this exact thing.....but you dont even know how bad the News and Advance was several years ago, and we both agreed that Chris Lang was the best thing to ever happen to LU, simply b/c we can start getting the much deserved coverage and with a positive mindset, yet there is still much more work to be done with the local TV coverage and stuff

But the N&A used to be out to promote their own agenda, when it came to LU and even politics which led to the firing of their Editor and Chief, and since then it's been a 100% turn around

The Sun News has just started really doing a better job with Coastal sports.

As for the tv issue, the one channel that Coastal is ever on is the channel based in Myrtle. The other channels based in Charleston or Columbia don't do nearly as good covering the school. We face kind of the same thing with most of the news stations being based mainly in Roanoke.

dont kid yourself. south carolina is all about USC and Clemson. the local fishwrap down on the coast im sure gives coastal their due. do you see JMU, richmond or W&M getting a lot of ink?? no way. it is like that anywhere. the papers put in stuff people want to read and in lynchburg it is in the middle of VT and UVA so the "slobbering " will commence. i think chris has done a great job, and the N&A has come along way baby. as LU grows and we become more successful we will get more ink. when JMU won the national championship their run in the roanoke, richmond, and tidewater papers wre minimal, but the harrisonburg wrap had the most coverage..but that is the only game in town. I would guess in connecticut the hartford paper is all UConn....i doubt you see much fairfield stags ink.

No different than in Greensboro. Try to find UNCG news in that newspaper.

True. I clump them in with the "media" umbrella but Lang does cover everything LU sports very well. The rest of the staff likes to play "gotcha" but they're really the only outlet that pays any attention.

I know what you're saying. Sometimes I think the head honcho at all the local news outlets is someone with the initials AP
