There's a chain barbecue joint moving in on Wards Rd. between Bob Evans and the Hilton Garden hotel that's under construction behind Dorm 33. Up until now, I just knew it was barbecue. Now I know that it's a Dickey's Barbecue Pit chain. I've never heard of, nor have I had any experiences with said chain.

Anyone who has care to fill us in? I can only think of one barbecue chain that I've actually had good experiences with, so I'm skeptical.

not that this has anything to do with their food, but I thought that it was strange to construct it with a wood frame like you'd see a house built. Most commercial places nowadays are built with steel frames.

So it's Texas BBQ. That's a smokey flavor right? If so, I'll be happy. Not too sweet and not too vinegary.

Thanks for remembering, Fumble. I'm sure that Sly will chime in soon (again). Here's a link to their menu:

oh yeah, everything was discussed in that thread. But how about hooking us up with some prices Sly? Is this some place that's gonna be in the mix with other casual dining places in town, or is it fastfood style?

They should build a Chipotle somewhere in town. Mmmm.

Even better, Moe's is apparently on it's way to that building next to the new sheetz.

Its not quality Texas BBQ. They were a decent outfit in DFW but they have destroyed their menu in order to match a national audience. Then again, mediocre Texas BBQ is better than most other styles.

if youve ever had good mexican food, you know how much chipotle sucks. I would honestly rather eat taco bell then chipotle.

And Sly... is there any other bbq then Eastern NC? Don't give us that Texas crap!

Frankly I have no preference...and long as its either ribs, chicken or pulled meat on a bun with some good barbecue sauce (or hot sauce depending on the variety), Im for it. When I went to Washington DC my freshman or sophomore year of high school we went to this place called Old Glory in Georgetown. They have some really good barbecue and different sauces reflecting many of the regional styles. I felt like I was in heaven...

That's quite possibly the most ridiculous thing I've ever read.

Hyperbole: it's what's for dinner.

Chipotle is not all that. I've never understood why it was so popular other than it tends to thrive where there really aren't any decent burrito options.

Not all that great? It's steak... and a lot of it.

I'm looking forward to Moe's opening so I can finally see what all that hype is about.

I heard we're getting a Baja Fresh as well. I apologize if this has been covered elsewhere.

I personally think Moe's is better than Chipotle, but that is just my opinion, but they both are def. better than Taco Bell. As for BBQ, have you guys ever been to Schmokies in Wyndhurst? Not too bad.

I think I saw that place the other day. Are you talking about the trolley car across from the car dealership?

What about that scary-looking dive on Old Forest Road? They tout Carolina BBQ, but I haven't been brave enough to set foo tin the place yet. Anyone know what I'm talking about?
