LYNCHBURG, VA - It’s dangerous at Biggers Park. If you don’t have a killer crossover, a wicked jump shot or the power to grab rebounds - you’re dead.

Luckily, the guys dressed in yellow and black Hoop City jerseys brought something to defend themselves: skills.

Every Saturday, around 4:30 p.m., teams gather at the Fifth Street park.

This Saturday is no different. The sun’s out, more than 200 spectators are crowded around the court and two teams - Dem Boys and the Young Bloods - warm up.

We used run against the locals and LC kids there two decades ago. Glad to see the tradition continues.

We have a league sorta of like this in my town and it's great to play in...we've been known to have people like randy moss, jason williams, kevin pittsnogle, mike gansey, and oj mayo stop in and play a few games. We usually start playing at around 11pm at a local college gym and have a dj there and stuff...it's pretty much amazing. :D

this biggers park league must suck, Lynchburg kids are horrible ballers in general.

our hoops league is sort of an invitation only league, so it makes for a very high level of competition in every game...it's great to play in and since it's so late and we have the dj it sort of gives it a party type atmosphere so even when you get done playing your game it's a lot of fun to just hang around and watch the other games that are going on that night
