for all LU faculty and staff I believe at 3:00 at the Thomas Rhodes Chapel??? Sorry but the details were vague and I am not sure if I have the name of the location correct or who is involved. Maybe someone on campus to snuff this out better than me.

I don't think it's anything serious (bad). Just a message from our Chancellor.

I don't know, an emergency meeting sounds like an emergency to me.

all it says in the e-mail is Chancellor's Fall Update....the word emergency is not used....calm down

Fall update?!?! What could that mean!!? JFJr has been placed in the LU holding tank under suspicion of carrying an umbrella. I hear he had a vandetta with the tennis team and any/all of their team managers.

Somebody on here better find out what it is! You know what the last emergency meeting was about.

It's not emergency. The e-mail never once used the word emergency. It's just the Chancellor's Fall Update. It's no big deal.

CiderJim should be reporting in. The email was sent about 1255 PM...so this is very short notice...and he said he was heading to the church.

3.5 million dollars given to the university in endowment, and JF's life insurance policy of 34 million dollars made the university debt free.

I had heard the life insurance policy was pretty big, didn't know it was that big.

$34m - 20m = Debt Free + 14m
+ 2.5m endowment donation
+ 2 larger endowment donations to be announced in the upcoming weeks
+ record enrollment

our school is great. Hopefully CSU has taught us to be careful with our newfound financial success.

JF, jr. said his dad took out an additional 21 million in life insurance just 3 years ago. That was very wise and prudent, considering what happened on May 15th.

As Dr. Falwell put it...

"When I kick the bucket, Liberty is going to be in high cotton."

Dr. Falwell was a great steward in the strictest sense of the word.

its good to see Dr. Falwell vision once again be seen...he knew what he was doing and this school is now in the best shape it has ever been in...

exciting times for sure.

I wonder if this news would hurt donations coming in from the small givers now since LU is debt free? Any thoughts. I am glad LU is debt free now. Thanks to JF.

i doubt it, because we will still be building new stuff and all, and still need money to pay for that so we don't go back into debt. plus athletics can always take more money, so anyone wanting to give can always send it there.

Yes but why would some people want to give when we have 14 millions in reserve. Some would say they have enough now, I will send my somewhere else.

The people donating would be the ones wanting to help reach Jerry's vision. I think we'd have more people donate things now because we're on our way. If someone tells you, "Hey, we want to have a $1 billion endowment" and you ask, "How much do you have now?" which do you think will get a better response:

a) "We're $20 million in debt, and then we'll be able to start the endowment."

or

b) "We've got $16 million now. We're well on our way, and you can help us get even further."

Personally, I'd rather donate to something that was ready to build now rather than something that had to fill in the dirt first before it could build.

idk, i've never had enough money to think like a big giver, but it seems like if someone really knows Jerry's dream and wants to help the school, they would still give money. plus, if they know anything they would know that the school won't operate very long if all they have is 14 mil in reserves and no donors.
