No word if the road by the baseball field will be resurfaced or not but hope Toman asked for that as part of his new contract. :P

NEW pavement from the Vines to the tennis courts--maybe these are part of the "secret" athletic upgrades so many on this board have been speculating about.

That would fit with Sly's clue, "If thing's go DOWN as planned".

Maybe he meant pavement! But now that we've found out in advance the backers may stop the funding. No pavement for us. HAHA.

Taking on the road above the baseball field is going to be a major challenge. The mountain is just swallowing the road.

maybe they need to hire an architect to figure out something to do to fix that road?

Perhaps they are going to wait and change the road to accommodate a new baseball stadium.
(One can hope)

sounds like a plan to me, but a lot of people use that road, so it needs fixed for short term.
i think they should completly recut the road and start from scratch, b/c what they have isn't working

Four lanes (with a turning or bike lane) above the baseball field sure would look nice, though probably not necessary. :P

i'd be happy if it was just regular 2 lane where you don't meet people head on and someone have to run off the road

if coming from north campus, run this road straight and cut out the turn toward the fieldhouse. you would have a legit turn right or left. of course you would have to really do some digging, and it would give plenty of room for baseball stadium upgrades.

that will be very nice. the few times i've driven back there has been really rough. i'm surprised they waited this long.
the road by the baseball field is the road more traveled. i think eventually they'll ditch it completely. if not, that little mountain that is growing into the side of the road is going to take it out for them.

My biggest problem with that road is the fact that you literally have to move into the path of oncoming traffic to be able to complete the turn. Its the same way in that turn by the dining hall (although with the changes to the dining hall for next year that may not be so much of a problem)

Great news

I was staying up at the Wingate this past week and cut through the campus a few times. The bad roads really hurt the campus look and image.

The excitement comes when they repaint all the parking spaces! :medic

This will at least give the university some justification for the price gouging and extortion they've sponsored for so many years.

I drove over the old road today: the machines have been by grinding it down, and some new concrete curbs have been added. I could almost smell the scent of hot asphalt and tar. The Carolina folks will be wanting to walk on it barefoot in order to get a real Tarheel. 8)

I don't think you know what any of those words mean.
