For those here in Lynchburg just curious to see what high speed internet service you would recommend? I saw the 14.95 from Verizon but they said it isn't offered in Lynchburg but my dad lives in Stuarts Draft, VA and they have it!!

I wanted Verizon, but was told it wasn't available for my street, yet right around the corner on another street it is. Crazy! I had to go with Adelphia, it's more expensive, but worth it. Also cheaper if you have Adelphia cable as they bundle the two together for a lower price.

Adelphia is as fast as it gets around here, unfortunately. Verizon DSL was reliable when I had it, but still overpriced. Jet Broadband just picked up Nesbe Cable's customers in Campbell and Bedford counties in the last year sometime. The jury is still out on how reliable their service is.

There's not much else to say about Internet access locally, unless you go with dial-up, a 3G cellular based solution or Starband (satellite serivce). All three suck, IMHO.

I'm waiting with baited breath for WiMax to come to the Hill City. That'll be the day. Although, I suppose I could live with EVDO. Alltel should hurry that up.
