I was driving by the tunnel that goes under 460 the other day and had an idea. I know NC State does it and I think it'd be cool. They call their tunnel the "Free Expression Tunnel" and kids have been able to spray paint either NC State logos or other things in the tunnel. It's actually really cool. Here's a picture:



I just think it'd be a way for some people at LU to get their ideas out possibly, or even to support the teams.

I think this could be a good idea, any others agree?

I don't know. They may track the type of spray paint you use and then expel you from the university if you put something up there they dont like!! Then they would say the reason they called it "Free" was b/c you did not have to pay anythings, cash or student fee, to post there !!!

Just like that kid on the news that disagreed with LU not allowing Soul Force onto campus was probably killed last night in a dark alley.

i disagree. NC State paints over that thing at least twice a year anyway. I know of a few instances of some bad things written on those walls, and the school wanted to investigate it. it is really not necessary. there are better ways to express IMHO.

I agree, Smooth. I rather like walking thru a nice clean tunnel.

They already have the rock for expression. I'd say leave the tunnel clean.

I'm for a clean tunnel. Not everything has to be about spraypaint expression. Part of what LU is about is educating people on other ways to communicate with the world at large. Controlled vandalism isn't exactly promoting what we want. Besides, look at the area of the rock. All of a sudden trees and sidewalks became fair play. Let's keep the rest of the campus in a clean and professional in appearence.

Dirt naturally collects in the tunnel...and people write things now...I think they only last about a day or two.

I was gonna ask about the sidewalk. Last time I was down I found the "street- art" accross from DeMoss. Interesting, to say the least.

Many cities up here have banned aerosol spray cans from sale in retail stores due to vandalism issues. You have to buy it at a hardward store after showing ID. Crazy.

Is it still readily available in the 'burg?

You also have to be careful because the students on campus always seem to get carried away and take things too far. They have the rock, yet they started spraying the trees around it, the sidewalk, and just about every other large rock on campus, especially in the courtyard, and it all looked horrible. There's just too many people who lack respect or common sense to open up the tunnel to that.
