Based on the
original thread on Pizza in Lynchburg, I am starting up this poll to see what our expanded FlameFans community considers a slice of heaven.
If you don't see your favorite on the list, please choose 'Other' and tell us in this thread.

Upper Crust...but I have not had OIP although I hear it is very good. There is also a new place over in Wards Crossing West that I need to hit.

Fumble, I think you are referring to Ledo's and it comes highly recommended by our other Quiz Bowl coach. Monte Carlo also makes a pretty good pizza on Old Forrest.

Ledo's...that's it. Sounds like a lunch stop today.

I'm with Cider on this one. How does Monte Carlo not make the list? I've been addicted to their pizza for quite some time.
Vinny's is pretty decent and closer to LU. I have them as my #2.

The nominees all came from the previous discussion. Nobody brought it up a over a year ago when we had a similar topic.

Monte Carlo is kinda out of the way for the students. However, those who spend time or live up in that area should know about it. The restaurant has been there for over twenty years.

I used to live over there but I've never been. Maybe I'll give it a try as I haven't really found a place that's got pizza that I would consider better than "ok". As of right now, Pizza Hut is the best.

Monte Carlo isn't much farther away than Peaks View Park. If I were in college again (and single), I'd buy a pie there and make it a "pizza picnic" with a lady friend (I'm happily married, but just giving you college guys some ideas).

you can still do that with your wife. And I bet you'll get a better result from your wife than you would with your girlfriend back then.

Pizza Hut, then Upper Crust. I went to Monte Carlo's once, not impressed at all. Didn't try their pizza, but the "high class" Italian was very sub par.

Nice idea LUconn, but most middle-aged wives prefer eating indoors these days. Would you concur, Fumble?

Fumble, I
wasn't asking you to comment on this part:

The Poker Nite people can back me up on this. The best kept secret in Lynchburg in regards to pizza is:
CHICAGO ON THE JAMES
It is across from the Bank of the James building downtown and serve AUTHENTIC Chicago style pizza. Not the Pizzeria Uno stuff, but home made crust, sauce and sausage, deep dish absolutely amazing!! The dude is from the Chicago area so that is even more authentic. Their "regular" pizza's are great too. And their Calzone's.
If you haven't tried it, you need to. I have not eaten another pizza in Lynchburg (Except for Mrs' Purple magic with Chef Boyardee) since I found this place. If you need directions, PM me and even mention my name, they know us VERY well!

On Main street Down from the pawn shop, next to the Cigar shop across the street from the parking garage entrance for BOJ. They are open till around 8 on the weekends. You will not be disappointed my portly friend
The pizza is so good, we don't even give Vegas and Reno table scraps. They HATE it when we come back fromt here
