I am very interested in this mall and I'm trying to figure out where it is in the process, where exactly it's going and all of that type of related info. So I thought we could keep a running thread going and update it if possible. And we can also bother HMO to give us some secret info that we know he knows, but pretends he doesn't.

I think the part I shaded in yellow would be the land sold. I'm sure it's not exact.

Does anybody know where we are in getting this developed? The notice for rezoning billboards are up. So I guess city counsel just needs to approve that rezone before the sale is final?

I think the most appealling thing about this chunk of land to potential buyers/developers may be that 90% of it appears to be outside of Lynchburg city limits.

I hope they put the world's largest Walgreen's in there.

I bet the sale doesn't include that little corner in Lynchburg, or if it does, I bet the developers sell that part.

also, what's the deal with parcel 130 B?

You sure about that, Lib? I thought the City Limits covered the ridge of the mountain.

based on the info and descriptions the paper has given us. we know that it is actually going to be 100 acres (this yellow parcel is 130+ acres) so it would be a little less than what's in the yellow. I have mocked up this professional artist's rendition of the blueprints

no but seriously, the road will look something like that blue line. That's how it's been described so far.
A frontage road, which will intersect U.S. 29 at the current stoplight for the Lynchburg Regional Airport will parallel U.S. 29 for a short distance before running eastward.

It will cross existing railroad tracks on a bridge that will be constructed by LU.

The new road will be an extension of Liberty Mountain Drive, which runs in front of a series of new dormitories that have been built by the school in the past several years.

Laurrell said the good news for motorists is that the proposed project will not require any addition traffic lights on U.S. 29.

this is so exciting that this is moving forward. I think it will completely transform this whole area. I can't view the video. Can anybody give a summary?

i can view it, but what was written is pretty much it. it will have one million SF in retail space. river ridge has 784,775 SF just as a comparison. indeed this is very exciting and this will transform lynchburg. this certainly makes the idea of LU buying river ridge more of a reality.
