Well our moving day has finally been set and we should be in the burg sometime late afternoon on Tuesday, June 5th. Besides not selling our home and looking for work... the most pressing thing on my mind is WHAT RADIO STATIONS should I change my car radio presets to. Obviously this is one of the most important things you can do when you move into any new community. :) If you are not ashamed of the stations you listen to... :brownbag ... Tell me what stations you listen to and why. Please give the dial numbers!

90.9 the light. campus station- the music gets repetitive sometimes, but they cover LU games and you keep up to date on the school.
101.7 is hip hop- don't listen to that much but every once in a while
there are several country stations- yes, i like country music. i can't remember the numbers b/c they are preset.
i think 96.3 is rock- again, its preset so i'm not 100% sure

I have XM now...but here are the presets on my car...and some of the regulars on here can fill you in on the stations they are affiliated with.

1320 AM...ESPN Radio

94.9 and 107.9... Country stations. 107.9 is your NASCAR source.

90.9... The Light (LU student station)..home of the Lady Flames Hoopsters and occasional baseball, soccer, and softball.

99.1 and 102.7... 80's, 90's and some contemp pop/rock...but Q 99 has a great "disco Saturday Night" show at 8 PM on Sat nights.

88.3...WRVL...football and men's basketball

90.3 Christian Contemporary

105.9...Conservative Talk Radio...plus the Sports Line...and Hokies sports.

97.9...Oldies (meaning early to mid 70's)...plus UVA sports.

The only two stations I listen to with any regularity are...

105.9 - WLNI: Talk radio. I love Coast to Coast AM. Anyone who's worked 3rd shift surely knows what I'm saying. That craziness keeps me awake.

and

89.9 - WNRN: Independent alternative programming station out of Charlottesville. Mostly modern/indie/alternative rock but they have specialty shows, too. Those range from electronic to metal, and from hip-hop to bluegrass. You can also listen online.

99% of the time I'm just listening to my iPod, though.

One of my best friends at LU does mornings on one of the country stations. Although I have no idea what his air name is these days. He was a regular at WYYD back in the day.

Of course we have a slew of broadcasters on this board these days. Give them your patronage whenever possible.

Scorchy and I have, apparently, waaay too much in common. I am beginning to believe that I am perhaps the Marshall to Scorcho's Mr. Brooks.

regardless of the lack of variety, i stay tuned to 90.9 all the time. they do a good job with different kinds of music (all christian of course... just different genres), in addition to keeping me up to date on the LU sports world.

i know there are guys on here that work for 90.9... or are somehow affiliated. i dont know who, but anyways...

i really enjoy hearing the bits and pieces of the funeral or the callers talking about dr. falwell. as many times that i've heard them, they never get old. it's always cool to jump in the car to run to the gas station or something and hear a song followed by jerry vines or a student talking about jerry.

We thank you for that....it's been our part to help the healing process...Dr.Falwell believed in us and gave alot of us on here a chance to be able to do what we are doing now and for that we are forever greatful...I went by his grave yesterday and someone had put a Yanks flag up there...How fitting......

i was up there sunday night, and saw the flag. i wondered who did that... i knew it wasn't you.

off topic, i know, but man... it's nice up there by dr. falwell's grave. just to sit on the benches and take it all in or maybe reflect. when the students are back, something tells me a lot of people are going to be up there just sitting... at all times of the day.

I still don't listen to the radio. There's not a station that plays what I like.

I'll settle for the 4000+ songs on my iPod.

Yeah, I just don't like taking my iPod with me to work for a 10-minute drive. I don't want to ahve the thing in my pocket once i get there because it could very well break or get damaged due to the nature of my job, and im not going to let it stay in the car all day during the heat of the summer because that could mess it up to. If nothing else, I can jus tput it on ESPN radio or listen to WLNI.
