Ribbon on the big monogram?

On Friday 5/18, about 4:45 p.m., my wife and kids saw a GIANT black ribbon on the big monogram on the mountain, just under the LU. It was gone, however, an hour later. Can anyone confirm this, and why it was removed? I imagine the university doesn't want to start any graduation traditions, even if it was honoring JF. Just curious.

First off, welcome to the board. We've had a number of new faces join us this week and we are greatly appreciative.

As far as the ribbon, I'd love to hear what went down as well.

I'm guessing someone did that as a tribute...doesn't seem necessarily bad...but I'm glad they removed it, b/c it might set some kind of precedent, and you really don't want people messin' with the monogram in the future. We'll have other ways to give tribute to Jerry. I like the flame idea in another thread.

The school put it up. I'm not sure what the plan was for how long it was supposed to be there, but it was being done by LU.
