does anyone know why the last two nights the internet has turned off on east campus for a while, last night an hour or two, tonight, half hourish

Yes. Because the folks we lease the Internet connection from for North & East have done unscheduled maintenance both nights. Unscheduled means they also haven't notified any of their customers beforehand. You can imagine that we're just thrilled about it.

I never really noticed any problems, other than my AIM being signed off when I wake up.
