Jerry has been saying for a few years his goal is 1 Billion. That would put us in the top 70 schools in the country. Harvard leads the list at 28 Billion.

Can anybody find us? I scanned the whole thing and saw a few BSC schools but not us. Surely we have more than these community colleges listed.

Lynchburg College is #395
I'll try and find out why we're not on the list.

yeah I saw them too. Maybe some private colleges don't report? I just find it hard to believe we didn't beat out Georgia Perimeter College. They have like less than 100,000

I'm guessing we're not on the list because we don't have anything to speak of yet.

We are not on the list because we don't HAVE an endowment.

I doubt it's enough to speak of yet, or we probably would have heard about it. I do know they're working pretty hard on making something happen. Who knows when or what will come of it.

Yea, our guys "sword fight" with plastic pipes covered in duct tape; VMI uses the real thing, and they can make you
BLEED.

Not trying to be rude here...
...but I think that is called the mansion.
JF realizes he (and his fund raising power) will not be around forever, which is why the school NEEDS an endowment. Otherwise, it could be the 1990's all over again.

Jim, you forgot the foam that goes over the pipe before it gets wrapped in duct tape.

I had no idea we had such a department.
The issue becomes, when schools have to dip into the endowment principle for operating costs...
...a huge sign that "The End is Near."

Just some food for thought-there are 4269 colleges and universities in the United States alone, so , if my math is correct (and that's risky since i was a journalism major), the top 200 schools account for the top 5%. I know we (su) have been in the top 5% for about 10 years or so, but I was actually surprised to see that we added $$$ this year. Also, this list is a little inaccurate, because our actual figure is nearer $300m at the present time. Our new prez has also made 1 bill his ultimate goal. However, I'm not sure what date this ran to.
If you guys are looking for a great baptist leader, or ex-prez, Thomas Cortz retired last year and he took us from eight million to 250 million during his tenure. The only catch is that he's rumored to be a closet liberal.

sounds like a reasonable plan to me

Seriously though, I'm just pointing out two things- you have to look at this list w/ perspective and 2, with the right people in charge, you can accomplish great things. I think a major problem with schools, companies, small biz these days is that too many people care about who actually gets the credit for the goal once it's attained.

I was simply making a general point. Besides Jerry, I'm not familliar with your adminstration, so you would have to answer that one for me. Unlike other posters on this board, i'm not omniscient
