The Liberty Channel

Continued from a bball thread...
This obviously does have a lot of potential but I think it would take an enormous amount of money to turn it into something other than another example of cheesey christian programing. Sure you have your FTN, which is pretty high quality stuff. I actually think they do a better job than ESPN+ games, (although I would like some more replays and graphics), but everything else doesn't really seem to have anything to do with Liberty (other than Convo and the come to Liberty for free infomercials). You've got your Over The Hill Gang, and Act It Out, etc. all stuff that was probably pretty goofy, even for the 80s when it was made.
Anyway, here are some strange oddities:
-I don't get very good reception of the Liberty Channel on Candler's Mountain.
-The channel is not included in my local package with Dish Network
-I do get a channel with Dish called "angel" which seem to be nothing more than a 24/7 infomercial about why I should get sky angel

I'm pretty sure Liberty Chanel is only offered on sky angel...I dont think it's any different then BYU Chanel being offered on Direct Tv...there are no ties like LU and Liberty Council Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

BYU channel is on Dish as well. It's really not very good either. Although, most of it was filmed at least 20 years more recent than LC's stuff.

I wouldn't have a problem with the Liberty Channel if it wasn't called the Liberty Channel...it makes you think its dedicated to have at least half if not more Liberty dedicated programming. Live at Liberty is the perfect chance to talk in depth about things going on at the school, but they failed and its just the Old Time Gospel Hour 21st century style....
I am sure they have their minds made up about this whole thing....but its fun to talk about i suppose

I can't pick it up, either. There was not an issue when it was on 19.

do you mean adelphia? Yeah it was like channel 10 or something. Jetbroadband in the county picks it up too. But I can't get either of those so I'm stuck watching it snow in the Vines if I ever can't get to a bball game.

when they switched to the higher channel, I think it was to further the broadcast footprint so that it would reach Roanoke. But it seems to have made the signal worse, close by. So you're in the right direction. I just hope they can't pick it up at Radford.

Adelphia had a massive embezzlement scandal which resulted in them selling off most of their customer base, and making a few trades in some markets. (For example, Time Warner gave Los Angeles over to Adelphia in trade for several other markets.) The vast majority of their customer base was split between Comcast and Time Warner. We, unfortunately, got Comcast.
The switch was officially made sometime in November, but I don't think they've sent out the first official Comcast bills yet.

that was my pet peeve of the week a while back
would make sense to offer Sky Angel/Liberty Channel to DirecTv as well- somone posted a link for how to realign the azimtuth or whatever so you COULD recieve it on a dish, but I'm not techno-geekish enough to figure that out.
if and when they DO get the channel out there on more networks/systems- there is NO reason to NOT carry all the "big" sporting events- as well as special events on campus.
thats what I asked Santa for, anyway.

Yeah, Channel 19 was darn near digital quality over the air, even without an antenna.
