To many good speakers to invite him.. U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops are about ready to take a stand with politicians like Kaine, Biden and Pelosi ..... Convocation is required for freshman and shouldn't be used for controversial speakers, there could be other venues for those to speak on campus.
It’s convo not chapel. This is not what Sr would’ve wanted. He welcomed and encouraged variety of different thoughts and beliefs. He always invited them to campus to speak. Like Kennedy, Kaine, Jackson, White, etc.

Unfortunately what TH wants to do is what our leadership wants to do. Reject free thinking.

I think secular speakers who hold similar views to us can be even more impactful than Christian ones. College students have heard about porn and sex from their youth pastors a ton but hearing from a secular group about the dangers of it reinforces what they’ve been taught.

So you want to limit the speakers to Virginia candidates (of which Kaine was/is one) and POTUS candidates, but now they can't be controversial because its required for freshmen???? I don't get the logic here...

Any idea what year that was? Thinking it may have been during my time. 👴🏻
I'm thinking Spring '05, but may have been sometime in '06.
He may have come then also, but I'm talking about somewhere around '83.
Yeah, I wasn't born till after 1983, so...

Your mistake was looking for logic where only emotionalism and personal preference exist.

If he runs again fine. But there are so many brilliant inspirational Christian leaders from all walks of life to invite that would better educate and motivate students.

Bringing in a non believer to speak, may not be a bad thing. He could find the Lord while here.

I despise whippersnappers who come in to speak wearing skinny jeans, sneakers and a 2.00 t shirt from Dollar General. All Convo speakers should wear coat/tie.

Due to some medical issues, Ballcoach now prefers Cracker Barrel or Waffle House for breakfast.

Yes, Ballcoach is a real person. If he enrolled at Liberty today, I'd bet he'd flunk out before his first semester was finished. He'd probably wear the coat and tie for the outward appearance, but the substance of anything he did would be lacking. He would be like a house that has a freshly painted exterior, nice new shutters on the windows, and inside the floor is weak and someone weighing not even 100 pounds soaking wet would fall straight through.

Wow. That’s vivid.
