I just heard on the radio a drunk driver running from the police last night hit his minivan and he, his wife, and his children have been airlifted to the hopital. I'm looking for some more information but have come up empty so far.

A family of four was airlifted to the hospital after a crash on Waterlick Road in Bedford County Sunday night.

Police say 26-year-old Corey Peters hit another vehicle with his truck on Timberlake Road in Campbell County and kept going. The driver of the vehicle that was hit followed Peters and called police.

When a Campbell County officer caught up to Peters on the corner of Thomas Jefferson Road and Omni Road in Bedford County, he said, he found Peters slumped over the wheel. He approached him and turned his truck off, then explained that the person he had hit was also there and that they needed to exchange information.

Police say when the officer went back to get the person Peters hit, Peters started the truck and sped off, turning onto Waterlick Road. Police say by the time the officer caught up with Peters, he had already crashed his truck head-on into a minivan.

Inside the minivan were Andy Barrick, his wife Linda and two children. Barrick is the director of alumni affairs at Liberty University.

Medflight III, Lifeguard 10 and Lifeguard 11 airlifted the Barricks to the hospital. Information on their condition was unavailable this morning.

Peters has been charged with DUI. Virginia State Police say he could face more charges and are still investigating.
