LU auctions off spectrum rights for TV station

It is the spectrum which was sold... It will likely be used by a cell phone company for cell service.

The article does say that LU has 6 months to get the TV stations off that spectrum. I wonder if it will be the end of those channels altogether.
Also, I wonder if the recent announcement at CAER about the company who wants to reach rural areas with internet through UHF bands has anything to do with this deal. See this article: http://www.newsadvance.com/work_it_lync ... 6f8a9.html

I don't have the specifics but this is turning into a cash cow for random UHF stations that were either off the air or close to it. Obviously that a fortuitous purchase by the school. Streaming is a better option than over-the-air moving forward and the school can throw a few bones to help that platform while adding the rest to operating costs.

Dang, I'm really enjoying quality "prints" of the Rockford Files, even thought they are edited a bit too much for more commercial time.
