Probably more. I had many conversations with Christian socialist in my 4 years at liberty I can only imagine that kind of mindset has increased.

Why do so many Christians in this country act so paranoid? We are not even close to being persecuted here and even if we are the bible says to expect it. I understand getting frustrated at times it is human nature to do so but people need to stop being so paranoid. American Christians have it pretty good.

Christians like to imagine that they're in the minority in this country when that's far from the truth.

Only ones on that list, I would drive to Lynchburg to hear are:

Falwell, Sanders, Strawberry, Hindson and Carson.

Nothing against the others, I just would not drive to Lynchburg to hear them.

Is there a way to watch convo online? I'd be interested in watching Sanders speak since I'm off work for Rosh Hashanah.

Yeah, I guess so when you put his supporters on the front rows.

Socialist Bernie has reared his ugly head.

Yes, it's undeniable - America stinks.

And the top 1% pays what percentage of all taxes? And, oh yeah, which political party do they overwhelmingly support?

Yes, lecture the hard-hearted Christian students about what poor Bible students they are.

What's moral about killing children in the womb, Bernie? The USA is one of only four countries that performs abortions after 20 weeks. Where's the justice for those children?

Yep, willy-nilly, the USA throws random Black people in jail. No reasons whatsoever.

"I am not a theologian. I am not a Bible Scholar." - The first accurate thing he's said.

Give us free stuff, Bernie! Buy my vote with a Government program.

I respect Bernie in some respects. I would respect him more if he took on Hillary Clinton directly and exposed the blatant corruption connected to her. That would be courage worthy of respect.

Call me a lefty socialist, but I thought he did a good job today. He was clear and open about his beliefs and didn't seem to be preaching or talking down to anyone.

Didn't seem to be preachy? LOL You watched a different convo than I did. I haven't seen that much prooftexting in awhile.

He also pretty much ignored Nassar's question via redirection. But, he's a politician so what do you expect.

I'm looking forward to watching this later. Something tells me that Kiwon's analysis is less than objective, given his earlier views on Sanders even coming to speak.

Lefty socialist, he did a good job today and LU did a good job as well. The Q&A time allows the chance to communicate Christian values as a rejoinder to his remarks.

But when a non-Christian starts telling Christians how they should interpret and live out Jesus' commands that's hard to endure.

"Liberty University" is #2 trend on Twitter now. Thanks, Bernie! The Socialist 'Daniel' ventured in the Lion's Den of Liberty and didn't bow the knee to 'Nebuchadnezzar' Falwell. Yep, Bernie upped his cred with his supporters. Why he didn't even close his eyes for prayer. To do that might be TOO MUCH "common ground" for his fans.

He's got a cool slogan though - "Feel the Bern!"

I don't agree with Kiwon on everything...but, he got most of the gist of what Bernie was talking about before they got to the Q & A with Nassar.

The cheers were all definitely from his small group of supporters up front. There was what appeared to be some polite clapping in among the students but most of the cuts to the students showed a lot of uncomfortable blank stares.

The only time the students were really heard was when Sanders was challenged on a few of his points by Nassar. He didn't answer the questions that I heard but it wasn't surprising.

ATrain, it's called English. My original question was about how LU would respond IF Sanders decided to pull a media stunt and go after Christians and conservatives.

The peanut gallery chimes in with the nonsense about something I never said. That's on those geniuses.

As I thought, Sanders did, in fact, make clear where he parts ways with Christian conservatives. He stated his beliefs but he was civil and didn't attack too much. LU, then held a Q&A time, which forced Bernie to interact with three questions from a conservative Christian point of view. He answered them like you would expect.

His appearance was a win/win for both sides. Liberty was welcoming and is getting a ton of media coverage and Bernie's supporters will worship him for setting the narrow-minded, racist, homophobic, Christian kids straight. Everyone can see positives based on their own biases.

To be clear, LU should and does invite a wide variety of speakers. You guys have no idea how often I have emphasized this with the real bigots that stereotype any school that has a Christian background. Liberty is more of a true Liberal Arts school than many of the famous "Liberal Arts" universities scattered across the country, who are infused with political correctness and don't allow any diversity of opinion at all.

Kiwon, after viewing the speech, would you still say that there would be maybe 100 students there who would vote for Sanders?

Ugh this place drains the life out of me.

I do not agree with bernie sanders but today was one of the proudest moments I have had for my school. I felt good about the exchange and thought both sides were very gracious. It was refreshing in a fox news/msnbc Era of news talk.

Then I come on here and see the ugliness that comes from people too blind politically to simply give someone they disagree with a little credit.

I don't agree with anything he said but I give him serious props for coming to what people outside the bubble would believe to be the most hostile environment he could possibly come to, outside of a Republican party rally in Texas. And to LU for not only inviting him and the Republicans but every announced Presidential candidate on both sides. There could have been even more Democrats here, Sanders was just the only one to say yes.

Haven't seen or heard it. But I sort of agree. This would be that whole 'disagree without being disagreeable ' thing. I would t expect Bernie to either adjust his position because of the audience or hold back on what he believes. Good for him. It doesn't sound like he was attacking anyone personally, just stating his positions.

Yeah, out of that crowd there might be a 100 who would vote for him despite his unbiblical beliefs on the sanctity of life, homosexuality, personal responsibility, etc. Bromides about wealth inequity, injustice, rampant racism feed into the popular stereotypes. But, if those same 100, checked the facts and accepted the Bible as authoritative of God's values and desires, most would have a hard time voting for him, I believe.

The benefit to Bernie is the video. His supporters will love it (after the Christian music is edited out) and the added benefit is that it was broadcasted locally. He'll get a few more supporters because of that. I don't mind political speakers and it's good that a Democratic POTUS candidate decided to come.

Look, like Donald Trump, Bernie Sanders has an enthusiastic following. As a Socialist, he appeals to the idealistic young and the extremist Left. But, the Democratic machine isn't going to let him win the nomination. If Bernie really wants to win, he needs Elizabeth Warren as VP and they have to take Hillary Clinton and the Democratic establishment head on. Socialism is gaining more acceptance these days and Hillary is so unpopular that she can be defeated through a grassroots movement. Sanders-Warren would be a nightmare ticket for the D.C. Establishment.

I am voting for a Christian conservative, but I wouldn't mind a little chaos of the Democratic side. :D "Feel the Bern!"

Well, come back to life.

If beauty is in the eye of the beholder then I guess ugliness is as well. No one has been rude to anyone. If a little sarcastic humor is a sin then PH really is controlled by the :flamingdevil

Newsflash: Politics is like Sports to some people. It is that way to me. And as a Christian, I want to engage my culture and keep up with current events. Jesus didn't call on us to be "salt and light" by being invisible. Holy and righteous Jesus talked trash and corrected the corrupt leaders of His time with the truth. Why are His followers supposed to shrink back and remain silent? They aren't - Matthew 28:18-20.

Ragging on a non-Christian, Socialist advocating non-biblical values for society empowered by law is no more wrong than wearing a "Beat Coastal" t-shirt.

Ummm. I AM :flamingdevil so please address me accordingly

Secondly, the sound bite on the top of the hour sounds 'bad' for LU. There is a large heal when he says 'I believe in Gay Rights and Gay Marriage'. Made it sound like th entire place was enthusiastic about it.

Commentary on Flamesfan.com isn't the problem.

Bernie Sanders Gives Liberty University a Lesson in Christianity

The senator from Vermont reminds his audience that there's more to being Christian than being pro-life.

"Bernie Sanders went down deep into Jeebusland on Monday and gave a speech at Liberty University where he dared the assembled—and their personal Lords and Saviors—to start pushing the gospel plow a little harder."
...................................................................

"This is being pitched as a dog-bites-man campaign story, which is unfortunate. Worse, it is also being pitched as an attempt by Sanders to reach "common ground," which is marginally accurate, but even more unfortunate."
.....................................................................
"Sanders certainly didn't go to Liberty University looking for votes, at least not a lot of them, anyway. He went down and gave that speech as a kind of moral witness. He did something that liberal politicians—and, especially, liberal Christian clerics—have been unable or unwilling to do, which is to demonstrate to the audience in question that there is more to the gospel than merely the glandular. He made them look at him, an anomalous figure at best in their college careers, and that was how he made them listen."

I would like to know who's idea is was to sit his local supporters front and center. It's a gracious move but you are right, the video will make a nice piece in a misleading campaign ad.

Speaking of Republican rallies, we just got the e-mail warning of protests tonight outside the American Airlines Center where Donald Trump will be.
